    Posts like this one...

"I'll await your verdict of the game tommorow with interest, especially if we get stuffed."

... made a few moments ago in another thread make it clear to me that there are some Forest fans - or at least certain members of this forum - who actually take pleasure from seeing the club struggle in some way, whether it be a losing a match or problems elsewhere (such as rumours of any kind of crisis behind the scenes.)

I will never understand this attitude, and I don't believe I'm overstating the point either. For what it's worth, I will ALWAYS remain positive about Forest, and the day I stop doing that will be the day I give up calling myself a Forest supporter forever.

For the benefit of the poster who can't wait to see my reaction if we 'get stuffed' tomorrow, let me reassure you that if there is still a reasonable chance of us closing the gap on sixth place by this time tomorrow, whatever the score against Sheffield Wednesday, I will not dwell on the result and I will simply turn my attention to the next match and try to calculate what we and the teams around us need to do in order for us to make it into the play-offs by the end of the season. And, ultimately, if we don't make the play-offs then I will draw a line under this season, look forward to the World Cup and a long, hot summer, and come back to the City Ground at the start of the 2014/15 season, refreshed, ready to go, clutching my season ticket in eager anticipation of Psycho's first home match in charge, and with genuine optimism for a more successful promotion challenge thanks almost entirely to the man who has pumped tens of millions of pounds into our club over the past 21 months for no other reason than the sheer sporting challenge of it all.

I think its actually a form of coping mechanism rather than wanting Forest to lose.

I think the forum brings out the worst in people occasionally, myself included. I'd like to think that almost all of us die hard fans who visit LTLF are ardent and passionate supporters when it comes to proper matchdays

I know where the OP's coming from. But I don't think anyone genuinely wants us to lose. I just think they get so blinded by an opinion they have, that they feel a sense of satisfaction if they feel a defeat supports their argument.

I think it's worth noting there will definitely be a few rogue Derby fans on here who try to bait us, wind us up and just stir shit between us too. So bare that in mind too.

I honestly don't think anyone wants forest to lose.

Moaning grows out of frustration as "we" all want Nottingham forest to reach their potential.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to post this response in that thread? This is a bit like writing to the Times objecting to something published in the Independent.

‘This at bottom is the wish and prayer of all human hearts, everywhere and at all times: “Give me a leader, a true leader, not a false sham-leader; a true leader, that he may guide me on the true way.”’

I did respond to it in that thread (first!) But I thought the issue merited a new thread to discuss it as it wasn't strictly on-topic in that thread.

That's how I see it. No one actively wants us to lose, some have just come to expect it, including myself. Some go apathetic, some laugh it off, some get angry, but I don't think anyone wants is to lose.

i guess on recent performances it is a case of expect the worst and hope for the best. That way you're not so upset if we lose but are delighted if we win. No true red would ever WANT to lose surely?

It's like I always say, if you go to a game expected your team to lose then what's the point in even going? You should be positive of a victory in every single match, which yes, sets you up for disappointment sometimes, but it's better than being a defeatist.

I think complete apathy is my coping mechanism.

    No.

Fore some reason this thread reminds me of Footloose.
