Default Billy blows it again at Forest

    Nattubes

Just a take of a Birmingham fan on BD's sacking and Forest in general

That's a good read, just one thing to point out, the caption below the pictures of Bassett and Calderwood doesn't make sense.

Not exactly pretty, but did both did a job
Just pointing it out incase you have to submit it or anything.

That's pretty good and very fair. I had no idea Brummies could be so articulate

I think that sums up our current situation, and the last 15 years of our history, pretty much exactly.

Interesting how clearly it can be seen by someone not so closely entwined in eveything to do with the club as most of us.

    Watch it...

I honestly thought you were gonna get up in 2010-11, though I thought that if you did you may well have got turned over every week with the players you had back then. Nottingham Forest has been out the top-flight for too long really

To be fair, in the case of Bassett, the caption works both ways; he's not exactly Brad Pitt, is he?

    Good read, thanks for posting.

Pretty much sums up nearly two decades very well! Good insight from a neutral.

A very good write up, you clearly know your football as you have described the situation far better than any journalist working at a big newspaper or BBC/Sky has yet.

Just a couple of things I take exception to, when you hear talk of our history and Brian Clough, it is usually from non Forest fans and the media, in a similar context to how you have referenced it. It is the association people make with us and as such as soon as a neutral writes about us they mention Clough and our history. Likewise whenever we are on TV. Most Forest fans don't actually talk about it much but it's over use in the media creates the impression we do.

The left back thing has been taken a little out of context. We didn't have one for a long while. From Pearce leaving right up until signing Fox this season we never really filled the role. The new left back didn't need to measure up to Pearce at all. That would not be possible but we really lacked a decent Championship left back for a very long time other than temporary loan players like Shorey and Bertrand.

Good article, that - thanks for sharing.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

I suspect he/she wouldn't be calling Alex McLeish 'Alex McTwat' if this was being submitted for assessment.

It seems strange to me that Billy's Forest sides have been criticized so much for not delivering convincing enough results, when almost every other Forest manager in recent history has failed to deliver results full stop.

"Ultimately in around two and a half seasons he had taken Forest from the brink of a very quick return to the third tier to two play-off semi-final defeats in consecutive seasons, and that is progress whatever way you look at it. But in those two play-off semi-finals Forest encountered the eventual winners both times"

This bit's spot on. Add to that:

'Took over a mid-table side, hopelessly out of form and came within a game of making the playoffs last season.'

    And:

'Had Forest on track for another top 6 finish, and very much in contention for automatic this season before surely the worst injury crisis in English football this year completely de-railed our chances.'

It's not a bad CV really, for someone who's perceived to have been a failure. Sigh, never mind. Probably time to stop beating this dead horse and move on.

So what's happened to The King? Has he gone into hiding or have I missed any rants he's made?

Given his near-complete disappearance between stints at Forest even when thousands of us were crying out for him to return, now that nobody wants anything to do with him any more I wouldn't be surprised if nobody ever hears from him again.

How is he going to be heard from though? Through the media? Oh, right...

I wrote this article because I didn't think that, in the long run, Davies was the man for you lot.

Gotta be gonest, I don't think Pearce is either, if he does get the job. I think Al-Hasawi has gone for the populist route again. If Pearce succeeds, great. If he fails (and IMO that basically means doesn't get Forest into the Prem) Fawaz hide behind "well I appointed a legend didn't I". A bit like Gold and Sullivan did with TF for years at my club.

Could be wrong, really hope I am. As a three year citizen of Lenton, I hope you get back up there and stay there!

    Cheers, man.

What'll be interesting for me is the Blackpool job. He was poised to take it when Fawaz came calling so next time it comes up (and it always does) we can see whether he gets it, indeed whether he goes for it. If their chairman has been paying attention (and they all have) we might see him off any shortlist they now have.
