Get ready for it! He's going to talk about transfers!!!

I was against the appointment of Davis but are sensible enough to get right behind him and the team! Most of us were thinking with our hearts and that's what fans do but if I'm honest this a very very astute signing!! Come on!!

you'd like to think SSN will have an extensive article up on their site shortly after the press conference finishes.

I'll try and remember the main points and post them here as he talks along with others we should be able to get most of whats said.

Cheers Maverick I knew there were some good men left out there

It looked like the reporter at the CG for SSN was wearing a Forest tie, the red and white diagonal stripe one that CC was so fond of.
If it is then his report could be quite entertaining!

The Scot, who first made his name as a manager in England with Preston before taking over at Pride Park, has admitted he faces a battle to win over supporters due to his Derby connections.

But the former Rams boss is confident he can soon become a fans' favourite.

Davies is treading the same route as the legendary Brian Clough who left Derby in 1973 beore moving to the City Ground two years later.

"If it is good enough for Brian Clough, it's good enough for Billy Davies," said the 44-year-old.

"I hope my record speaks for itself. I've never been so fired up to succeed in my career.

"There is massive potential at Forest and nothing would give me greater pleasure than eventually leaving the club in a better condition than when I found it.

"The long-term aim is to reach the Premier League but in the short-term it is to keep Forest in the Championship.

"I've enjoyed my time out of the game but now I am raring to go."

I have had a go at trying to tell you what our new manager has said.
Delighted to be back in football, loved the break.

Can't wait to get started, joined excellent football club, with excellent people.

Only came back because he thought it was right. Very excited.

Wants to leave Forest in the same financial condition as he did with PNE & Derby.

Delighted to follow in the footsteps of Cloughie and delighted to take on the expectations of Forest.

Whats in the past stays in the past.

Goals: short medium and long term goals. Short term = stay up. Then plan for the upwards and onwards.

Doesn't bother about things at Derby, keen to get on with the job.

Admits Derby was a good time.

    Now to Mark Arthur:
Most important thing was to get a manager with championship experience and success.

*waffles on* Billys name top of list etc.

    Mixed opinion not an issue.

    Billy: first and only choice.

Well thats what was basically said, more later apparently.

Sounds like he just wants to get the job done.

    Good.

Summed it up brilliantly ^ the only thing that I picked up was a comment MArther said after saying BD was the first and only choice saying the appointment was made a week ago so why the fuck have we had all this bollocks over the possible new managers

Billy also mentioned he had looked at the current squad of "good, young" players, and mentioned that he wanted to "add experience" to the current squad.

Presumably then, he already has a target or two in mind!

We an probably all agree there are areas of the team that could be improved, I guess he must have identified targets to Mark Arthur during their 'discussions'!

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

A week ago today, Colin was still in charge (although only just)

I think that's what Arthur meant - when he said "we made a decision a week ago.." I think he was talking about the sacking of Colin Calderwood, not the appointment of Billy Davies.

Although it does seem apparent from his comments that BD was their real only choice - whether or not others were considered, I think they wanted BD as soon as they had let Calderwood go.

Still in two minds about the appointment, but if he keeps us up this season and then next we start pushing for promotion to the EPL then I'll be more than happy. Forest are a club with a proper history and pedigree and deserve to be in the top flight for all time.

As for being an ex manager of Derby, I really don't give a damn about that, it's what he does at Forest that counts.

Think we all knew that really... whether or not some late applicants made them reconsider slightly we'll never know. They want to give the impression there was never any question over the new man. Throw themselves behind him entirely.

He's had the job since 29th Nov but we went and beat Barnsley so he had to wait a couple more weeks
