Grolts awoken from his tender selfishness and realised the true reality of playing for Forest....

Now go and prove it Mr Holt!!

This is interesting news. I expected Grolt to leave and never be seen again. However, if he returns with a better attitude and game play then fine. I look forward to seeing him come on for 10 minutes at the end.

I think he has realised he doesn't mess with CC or he is out on his ear again.

Has Grolt realised he'll have to take a pay-cut to move on?

He's quite clearly realised that here at Forest is the highest level of football he will achieve.

    I'm saddened by this news.

Holt has to be the lowest down on the pecking order at the City Ground. Anybody reckon there was clause about a promotion wage increase in his contract? I reckon the most he can achieve here next season is keeping the bench warm.

I have no time for Grolt

    Get rid of him

The only reason for him suddenly committing himself to Forest is because his team mates have managed to hoist us up into the division above. He had nothing to do with that. Now he wants to piggy back on their success.

Yep. Right now I'd pick Sinclair or even Fairclough ahead of him.

I don't even know who Fairclough is and I'd pick him above Grolt.

Wanting to stay is one thing, but not being wanted by the manager makes it unlikely.

Was it ever confirmed that he was the one who stuck one on Calderwood?

We will have to see what formation the manager plays. He may tinker with it and play two up front and if he does I will do my best to be in that two

From past experience I think we can count on that!

I think Grant would be a decent enough front man in 4-4-2 but may be not at CCC level. It depends on whether we bring a more able target man into the squad.

We're kidding ourselves if we think he's not a good player. We know he can do the business and has a good finish on him. He needs to stand up and be counted. Prove he can do the job and that he deserves to be at the club.

We may see a lot more fight from our existing players next season. The fight for the starting 11 will be more fierce and it's down to them all to prove their worth !

I'd be willing to give him another chance to see what he actually can do !

    Thank you!

I'm a fan of Holt. He was treated unfairly last season and granted (no pun intended) he didn't perform to the levels of the previous season. But when he played through the middle, he still looked handy.

He and Tyson was still our best partnership.

Also, he's the first player this pre-season to come out and say "I want to play for Forest". He deserves praise for that surely?

I don't think Calderwood would agree with you. If the speculation was correct and Grolt was indeed the man responsible for his lovely shiner, what message would his being considered for first team action send to the rest of the squad, especially the younger players?

Calderwood has his fault but he has improved squad discipline. it's not worth ruining that for a distinctly average and eminently replaceable striker to get yet another attempt to show what he can do.

Perhaps we should start some sort or rumour that Holt's rather good (a bit far-fetched, I know) and spread it round various sites and stuff, and see if someone comes in and buys him...

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

I want to play for Forest!

    Do I get praise?

He's only saying that because he's at the highest he can get in his career.

You get all the praise! As would anyone on here.

I think he's saying it cos he has a genuine hunger to play for us. Think he'd still say the same had we not been promoted.

    ...yes, he would.

Because, in reality, the only way out of this club for him is down.

If any club that was interested in him scouted him over the last season, they certainly won't be interested any more!

And this latest 'hunger' only balances out the 'shop window' speech earlier last season.
