At one point there were two rounds of groups.

And still the greedy fuckers want an even bigger slice of the pie from the domestic paymasters.

Hopefully, before too long the whole wank fest will implode taking Sky, BT Sport and all the other media shitheads with them.

Was not also one of the catalysts for the "Europa League" replacing the good old UEFA Cup, Manchester United losing on aggregate to Rotor Volgograd 2-2?

I metioned it not too long ago. But they even tried to make it look li,e teams had to attempt to qualify by stoping giving the holders automatic qualification. Until of course Liverpool won it in 2005 and finished 5th. UEFA shit themselves so altered the rules somthe sponsers would be happy.

This has been on the cards since the Premier League's big four became a big six. Man Utd just missed out on a couple of years of CL. surprised it hasn't been fixed already.

It's quite funny that you have these pesky unfashionable teams occasionally finishing higher up the league that the teams that UEFA want in the tournament so they have to widen the qualification band thus watering down the competition over time.

I can see a cycle of rinse and repeat until they have created such a monster that the domestic leagues become second fiddle in the football calendar. Wonder if we will even see a closed shop type set up where qualification of the following years champions league is dependant on performance in the current one?

Who is excited to see our five reigning domestic champions through to the last sixteen of the Champions League?

I think they're at this point now. Liverpool scoring 23 goals in - what - half a dozen group games?

What really gets on my tits is this:
I don't really give a shit what format they want now it's no longer the European Champions Cup.

What angers me is that they give the European Champions Cup - the one we've got 2 of in the boardroom - as the trophy for this soulless, bastardised, overblown farce.

    "This statement is false."

I couldnít give a shit tbh.

Iíve never seen a CL qualifier, or any of the knockout games too.

Apart from Man Utd coming back from the brink of defeat with Solskjaer (sp) all those years ago, Iíve never given a shit.

Itís easy to lampoon the CL but by the knowledge of it that you all discuss it, the vast majority of you must be willing spectators.

'The Champions and Second Division Mid-Table League' has a good sound to it.

I'm with Biggles. I rarely bother with the Champions League and only know sketchy details because, when viewing SSNHQ for some news (usually not readily available)I sit through seemingly endless stats on how some nonentity from a far flung land which I didn't even know was in Europe has run 100 metres further than some chap from Man U in the latest rivetting league match.

All very boring; both the stats and the football I should add.

The Champions League coverage here centres mainly around which team F.C. Bayern will lose to this season.

I wasn't fussed about how the 5 got on. That was until I realised one of them was Liverpool and in that case I hope they crash and burn.

I tune in some times but often have turned off after 20 minutes. There have been some great games down the years but usually in the latter stages like Chelsea v Barca years ago.
