Ski jumping is tough on the knees, but it's nothing compared to the injury record in handball (which I suppose has never been a hit in Britain). Repeatedly hitting a hard surface directly with one or both knees or feet will cause long-term injury.

Most skijumpers have had nasty injuries, some near fatal ones, but strangely enough, alpine skiing is far more deadly when someone loses control. Ski jumps haven't changed much the past 80 years - the slopes for alpine skiing have become tougher and tougher. That might explain the difference in the number of fatalities or career-ending injuries.
I had the Swedes to win by more than one goal yesterday, with Canada to win by more than 4. So I was miffed they couldn't put the puck in the open net when the Swiss goalie had gone off at the end!

Apparently a star Swedish player is injured and they struggled a bit without him to begin with. Switzerland seem to have a good defence though and only throw caution to the wind when behind. The injured Swede might be the centre (or is that a netball term lol!) - if so they did always seem to be the best players on that Mega Drive game I mentioned. One Swedish defenseman also seems to be the best source of incisive moves going forwards though.

This Anna Fenninger that's winning the Super G is right up my alley.

That's a bit harsh, not saying the next top model, but certainly not unattractive.

What kind of car? I think she'd suit a mini.

I'd buy her the Cooper convertible.

    Nah, ice hockey is GK - B + B - W + C + W or just F + F + F.

Russia - USA today was a great match.
I think Norway's playing Austria tomorrow. Could go either way.

This is some of my favourite eyecandy during ski season. Therese Johaug.

Yeah, I think it's Zetterberg (I remember his name because of the football player) who is out and must be a forward I think. Karlsson is the libero-like defenseman (or should I say defence man) isn't he....

The wife has the skating on before I'm banished to the bedroom to listen to tonight's game and just watched the female US skater Ashley Wagner ice dance to Pink Floyd's Shine on you crazy diamond.

    Slightly sureal.

Jus been looking at that. Shocking.

If that's how Russian police behave in public surrounded by cameras and in an Olympic city with the World's attention focussed on it, what do they do to defenceless young women in private?

We are currently second in the bobsleigh with three to go in the Bobsleigh. Doesn't sound like we'll hang on though.

Still... for a country without ski slopes and ice runs we do quite well to even compete
    Let alone win anything

So we are actually very, very good at the sliding sports that we have to train Cool Runnings style

Curling and Speed Skating results are very much luck/tactics based - and Elise Christie was damn well bloody cheated

    Free Skiing/Snowboard we compete well

It's only the technical slope sports where we struggle due to lack of conditions to train in

I also know that at least one British born skier has switched allegiance to France to compete due to lack of funding available
