Just heard a big cheer come through the wall from next door, so I turned over to BBC2 to hear we've just won our first ever winter Olympic medal on snow.

    All the commentators are crying!

If you didn't have a tear in your eye when her parents turned up you must be made of stone!

    Talk to me, Goose.

The Snowboarding has indeed been epic.

And better that most of the snowboarders don't even look like traditional athletes, long hair and beards (for the men) being seemingly de-rigeur.

    That's because snowboarding is cool.

Disappointed that Shaun White didn't participate in the slope style.

This is true. They are also all outrageously posh.

I thought it showed a real contrast to the skiing where they celebrated a rival failing. Snowboarders seem genuinely chuffed for their rivals.

Doesn't change the fact the average snowboarder is a c### who spends most of their time sitting on their arses in the middle of the slope. Skiing is better.

    Oh FFS.

The chicks have been awesome, look out for Silje Norendal in the snowboard and Gabriala Soukalova in Biathlon.
    Rat up a drainpipe.

Funny with Putin anti gay stance the Russians do particularly well at figure skating.

The Ice Hockey has started then. I think I just need Canada to complete an accumulator of favourites winning (based on odds but also memories of EA Ice Hockey!).

The women's ski jumping was a good watch. Loads of them were described as having had knee surgery at the age of about 20 though if I heard correctly - does that happen to the men too or was that the reason womens ski jumping wasn't allowed in till this year (more vulnerable to those injuries?)?

Cool, watching the Ice Hockey on the BBC website now - Canada 3-1 up. Crosby is number 87 but he hasn;t headed the puck off the goalies hand yet.

Sorry Tomas but I'd prefer it to stay that way - but don't mind at all if Norway qualify for the next round in the end! Not that the accumulator will win very much tbh.

Olympic skier's topless photos cause storm in Lebanon

Why are there always some holier than thou humourless dickheads who want to impose their narrow pathetic views on others? You go for it girl.

They are bombing each other out of existence in Lebanon but get offended by a girl getting her kit off.

I've been watching on and off for a while, and honestly, it looks like most of our contenders have tanked completely. 17 degrees and short sleeves just isn't right for the WO.

Justina Kowalczyk from Poland won the women's cross-country with a fractured foot. That's something else.
The Dutch have their national championship in speed-skating during the Olympics.

The Russians have for a large part done terribly poorly from their normal standard. I enjoy watching Russia fail, and I hope Putin gets an aneurysm.

Success in ice hockey has never ever been on the cards for Norway. Anything better than 8th or 7th place in any major international tournament is an anomality that would make me look for four horsemen. The Swedes are great at hockey, and might have a shot.

Ski jumping is tough on the knees, but it's nothing compared to the injury record in handball (which I suppose has never been a hit in Britain). Repeatedly hitting a hard surface directly with one or both knees or feet will cause long-term injury.

Most skijumpers have had nasty injuries, some near fatal ones, but strangely enough, alpine skiing is far more deadly when someone loses control. Ski jumps haven't changed much the past 80 years - the slopes for alpine skiing have become tougher and tougher. That might explain the difference in the number of fatalities or career-ending injuries.
