Very sad news - RIP David....and many thanks for the Cloughie Interviews that you did, and that Mike Yarwood did on your behalf.

    Default David Coleman RIP

Just heard this as I got home. Sad news.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Pretty much the voice of sport as I was growing up.

Plus, he spawned Private Eye's "Colemanballs" column, dedicated to looking at the stupid things commentators say from time to time.

They just played a montage of some of his broadcasting - some incredible moments brought to life before TV got a stranglehold.

    Thanks, David - RIP.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

The level of dignity he bought to reporting sport seems long confined to the bin. He seemed ageless. I am so pleased I now realise how fortunate those of a certain age have been, watching and listening to our sport delivered by such a professional, thank you !

I'm of the age to only remember him from Question of Sport.
