Thread: NYE 2013

    Default NYE 2013

New Years Eve celebrations seem to be getting duller each year to me. Headed into the city last year and it was pretty dead as more people decide not to pay the ripoff prices of the bars and cab firms.

Do the majority of you guys go to house parties or just treat it like any other night in front of the box?

Haven't been out on NYE for years, and to be honest, I couldn't give a shit.
I do normally enjoy watching Jools' Hootenanny through but that's more for the music than the occasion.

I don't normally do anything, last year was one of the few times I got shitfaced. Backfired on me though, was so violently sick the following day that I burst blood vessels in my eyes and looked like a vampire for three weeks.

Usually stay home, they've completely priced any fun you can have right out of it.

I'm at a murder mystery party this year. Knowing my luck I'll be murdered and have to lie still the whole evening.

We used to go to our local but by the end of the night it ended up being just us and the landlord cos others buggered off into town. Last year we went to a house party and that was way better that being in the pub. Hopefully we'll go to another one this year.

House parties in Leeds for me. Flit between a few and then back to friends where a few of us just chill into the early hours.

As a new father (my daughter will be nine months old when the New Year rolls in) I think the furthest I'll be going is the fridge in the kitchen!

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Stopped in the last couple of years as it's overrated going out and a rob dog. Shall be going to a house party this year. Looking forward to it. But means I won't go through a season without missing a Forest game.

Never been a big fan of New Year's Eve. Used to prefer Xmas Eve by a mile. When I was younger New Year's Eve just became a macho attempt to stay out as long as you could. Many a time I drank and drank for the sake of it and we'll beyond enjoyment. Expensive, cold and a total waste of a whole day off work the New Year's Day. I do think the businesses have really priced people off New Year's Eve. I would say it started around the millennium. A night out now is so expensive anyway that if you throw other expenses in and the weather, lack of taxis etc... Is it any wonder people stay in and have parties or just get a takeaway nowadays?

I don't think I have been out on a New Year's Eve for about 7 or 8 years, I tended to have a big one on Xmas Eve instead. Over the last few years I have knocked that on the head too. This year, like Chris, I have a 8 and an half month old baby so there will be no going out even if I wanted to. It will be a takeaway for me and the mrs and maybe a couple of sly pints on my part when I go to pick it up.

Used to be good in my younger days for house parties. Now I'm old and decrepid I'm stuck with Jools fucking Holland.

Did Old Market Square one year, it was great until about 00:15 when everyone realised that there were several thousnad people and 5 taxis. Ended up walking home back to Arnold.

I'll be taking it easy new years eve as I've got to be up in the morning to get to Reading.

(At my age getting pissed, going to bed after midnight and then getting up at 8 don't really go together)
