I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

Work do on Friday on Alea casino. Was looking forward to it but news I heard as I left the office today could ruin it.

Have got two parties to go to this year. My current job and my last job (at SSAFA). Both include free food and booze (oh dear...)

My work Xmas party was this Saturday just gone at Mercedes Benz World. I missed it as I'd already booked the weekend away.

Yep, it's a sanctuary - all the animals there are rescued. Mostly parrots but also kookaburras, storks, peacocks, meerkats, lemurs and coatimundi. Oh, and tortoises. And probably some other stuff I forget

It's it Friskney, Lincolnshire which is between Boston and Skegness. Well worth a visit

Christmas Eve, we're having a Champagne breakfast. I'm not expecting to get much work done.

Ours is a week on Friday at a hotel around Preston/Chorley area (basically near where Camelot was).

Apparently they're quite brutal. All hotel rooms are paid for so that's good.

However, they're opting for a fucking medieval fancy dress theme. Its optional, thank the lord. Still though, it's close to Christmas, I'm not paid well enough to afford to dress up. I'd rather just rent a suit.

Either way, can't wait. I think a lot of money is put behind the bar too :-D

No. Our work are just spreading Christmas cheer by making more staff redundant. The crooks at the top will probably have a free slap up meal though.

Huge problem, dear wife's work do, seeing as she is the big boss, I dare not drink, because so many try and creep or show off, it's pathetic, then drink sets in and there's always one husband who wishes to speak his mind about rostering, days off, bollockings issued in the past year, wages, managements shit etc, a few years ago when i was younger and a lot faster off the mark, I reacted to a particularly aggressive drunk.......problem on the night solved , but my dear wife was livid with me.

Our builders team do, is a far more relaxed affair.....looking forward to that.

I used to go to xmas do's. Nowadays I would rather spend my money going out with the handful of people I actually like from work rather than going out en masse and getting stuck with some twat all night I struggle to muster hello to for the other 364 days of the year.

My boss always offers us a choice. Christmas piss up in Blackpool or a £50 M&S voucher.

New pants voucher wins every time.

I don't want to spend my Friday night with a load of boring twats that I spend the rest of the week with, so I tend to avoid our official Christmas party.

We used to have an unofficial Christmas afternoon which involved knocking off at 12 and going drinking, but this got banned.

No Christmas party for me, but as I work within an EMEA wide team the logistics would be interesting to say the least.

However I will work from home for the Monday/Tuesday of the first holiday week but likely as not knock off at lunchtime in Christmas Eve and go down the pub.

They've "given" us the first 2 days of the first week in lieu of a pay increase. So I get 2 days off instead of over £800 a year. Cheers *****.

I think I've a similar job to yours. I work from home as a rule visiting our sites or customer sites as required.

Taking the Monday or Christmas Eve as leave is daft as very few people will be about. I'll have an easy Monday, log on and be at home but I'll not be doing very much, then fully expect to slip away quietly at noon on the Tuesday.
