8th September ... On this day in 1990 Roy Keane made his City Ground debut in a 3-1 win against Southampton ... about 1 1/2 weeks earlier he made his actual debut away at Liverpool.
I can't remember a more impacting DEBUT by a Forest player in some 45 years (for both the away & home game) ... Can anyone recall any other fantstic debut's?
Tony loughlan. 36 seconds and scores.
Stern John scored on his debut I think on a Tuesday night when I met Dwight Yorke.
I think Mikkel Beck bagged as well in the same match, it may have been his debut.
Andy Reids first match he just took the piss out of Sheffield United
Franz Carr came on as a substitute in a league cup tie against Bolton replacing the regular holder of the right wing shirt Steve Wigley. Carr ran rings around everybody and Wigley was sold within days.
A lot of fantastic debuts were made by players who did SFA afterwards.
Raymond Ponte springs to mind.
Eugene Dadi's debut at Barnsley was a joke.
Matthew Upsons 21 minute performance in midfield before getting injured and never playing for us again.
Robbie Findleys burst of pace on debut, never seen after.
Chris Woods
Tudgay had a good debut, against palace I think and scored a lovely goal.
It's already been said but I'm going to go for Andy Reid's debut against Sheffield United. You could tell the lad had genuine talent that day.
I seem to remember Nathan Tyson looking superb on his debut against Southend too.
Ian Wright scored on debut v QPR I think.
Think Mark Crossley made his debut in a win v defending champions Liverpool.
Andrew Impey made his debut after Forest had gone seven games without a goal, and he scored after two minutes.
Pascolo had a shocker.
Did Barry Roache's come on for his debut at Palace after a Beasant sending off to save a penalty with his first touch and win Forest the game 3-2? Something along those lines happened.
Yeah I was at the QPR game where Wright scored on his debut. Ran off winding up their fans in celebration if memory serves. Remember the Impey goal well too, in a 3-3 draw with Walsall.
My suggestion for a great Forest debut will lose credence as he is a current player who hasn't gone on to match that performance in the seasons since. But Guy Moussi v Reading, our first game back in the Championship, stands out. He was a completely unknown quantity and went on to absolutely dominate a match against a recently relegated side, knocking out Sonko with a ferocious left-footed strike at goal in the process!
Darcheville
Moussi was immense on his debut. Shame he got injured a couple of games later.
I was a bit young but I've been told the story of how good Jenas looked when he first started here. Was he good on his debut?
Wolves in the Cup? If it was that game I think he hit the bar.
Terry Hennessey - expensive for the time, but true, utter class with every touch.
Trevor Francis looked a class apart on his debut.
I can't remember who we were playing against, but both were a long time ago.
It was about three yards outside the box as well. They scored the penalty but were made to retake it for encroachment and Roche saved the retake. We were 3-0 up at half time, was a great game.
Wasn't chris woods in the league cup final his debut,I'm not sure but what a brilliant performance.
Scott Dobie looked like lightning on his debut.
Seems like he was playing regularly in the League Cup and his debut might have been vs Notts County in an earlier round (a 4-0 win):
