If we let Geddy and Yacob go without at least 2 quality and experienced additions in this area I forsee a season of struggle.

He's erratic to say the least but I will be sad to see him go.

As I said previously. Great time to cash in on him. He's 33 now. If we can cash in, it should be done.

Geddy has form in this area. Doesn't like to stay anywhere for very long, a year here, 20 or 30 games there.

Time to thank him and move on. There are better and more stable players out there.

Football Boffin Jonathan Wilson has a lovely piece on tomorrow’s AFCoN final, including quotes from Adlene:

    https://www.theguardian.com/football...e_iOSApp_Other

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

    He is though.

As before, I can heartily recommend his frankly excellent book, Inverting The Pyramid, all about the history of football tactics. It’s even got a bit about Forest in it.

Let's support our man tonight regardless of where his future lies

We have a player in a major international final, we need to start building a positive mindset based on winning. We should start now.

As we’ve discussed before, I wholeheartedly agree. A fabulous book for anyone who’s interested in the tactical Side of the game.

Jonathan Wilson often appears on various football podcasts as well and is brilliant on all of them. Miserable bastard but that's what makes him great.

Well, Bounnacer puts Algeria ahead in the second minute with an absolute fluke of a deflected goal.

    Adlene starts again in Midfield.

Massively backing him tonight. Hope he puts on a star perfomance and we can cash him in for someone decent, whilst ridding the club of a snake. win-win

Senegal have come right back into the match and arguably have been the better side as the game reaches the half-Hour Mark.

Adlene is just sitting in front of the Algeria Back Four, pinging passes towards his forwards.

    Good game, this!

Pay back today. Senegal was qualified with an own goal. Now they are down because of this despite the fact they are a better team

Have to say, 40 minutes gone and so far Guedioura has done a superb job screening his defence.

He’s put a foot in when needed, cleared it when needed and has got that radar-accurate long pass to relieve pressure, and there’s been plenty of that, as Senegal seek to overturn the fluke early goal that gave Algeria the lead.

This is bubbling up into a cracking match!

At the half, it’s Senegal 0, Algeria 1.

Senegal have huffed and puffed and might have created more, but the Fennec Foxes have kept them at arms-length, Guedioura prominent in a screening role in front of his defence.

Algeria’s left back is a lucky boy though; a deserved yellow card and he’s fortunate not to be already enjoying first use of the soap and an uninterrupted shower.

    Decent match!

Guedioura's giving away loads of free-kicks and has been done for pace a few times too. Looks like a weak link in this second half...

    Ridiculous decision.

VAR overturns it - correctly, for me.

VAR in the Afcon is a brave decision
