For some strange reason I bought a season ticket for Chesterfield this season, as if 20 years of shitness at Forest wasn't enough, so really ought to go. Haven't bothered with one for Forest this year as the continual merry-go-round of managerial sackings was doing my head in.

Sod it, I'll more than likely be there, just to listen to the "wheelbarrow" song, if nothing else.

I've put Chesterfield v Notts on. Which one is you, Keith? Blue or black jacket?

Their result today, the sheep’s result, our record home loss disappearing and the rugby means a very satisfactory sporting weekend without us even kicking a ball.

    Did you go?

Wondering if it was seen as a local derby by both sets of fans, surely Notts sold out their allocation?

    Yes, I went.

5500 there, probably just over a 1000 from Notts, but alledgedly County sold out their allocation, but many didn't travel due to the conditions on the roads, prefering to watch it in comfort on the tellybox.

It really is shite football at that level, regardless of the conditions.

Bumped into a couple of the old boys from the Chesterfield Bastard Squad days and reminisced over a pint before the match, while laughing at the dozen Notts "Stone Island lads" giving it the big'un to four pensioners who'd still give them more of a hiding than they could handle

Chesterfield, like so many other smaller clubs have moved into the Proact stadium on the outskirts of town, built to satisfy the car driving fans of today, but it's a soul-less concrete dump, ten times better than Saltergate, but with no atmosphere whatsoever.

All round, barring the result, a pretty shit experience.

Yeah, I don’t think new stadiums suit smaller clubs. There’s no atmosphere at places like Donny and Rotherham either. Where as places like Rochdale and Bristol Rovers that still have some terracing have got a bit of atmosphere.

Same for bigger stadia too. Large stadiums over here, with their traditional terraced „ends“ is where it’s at, and where the most vocal fans gather.

    That's a shame.

    Ooof!

Spanked 0-3 today at home to league leaders Barrow.

Not a chance they'll be coming up automatically.

Listened to the last 10 minutes, Barrow sound a decent side.
    The atmosphere was understandably shocking.

Yes I took a gamble based on the fact they are in reasonably good form, playing at home & were what I thought was a decent price.

Who did you back & how much did you win?

I like football, and the less glamorous side of football. Not taking the piss out of County here either, give me the option of watching the Prem or listening to local football and I will choose the latter.

My mate who has a season ticket at Forest often goes to watch County just because he likes his footy. He did have quite a bit of training watching crap football as a kid watching Partick Thistle.

Partick Thistle!! That’s a football name that warms the soul, a bit like Crewe Alexandra, Queen of the South or Accrington Stanley

I’ll watch school football teams on the rec, owt, love football and the more grassroots the better.

He conned me once when he said, Thistle are playing in England, do you fancy it? I said yes why not.
They were playing Berwick in the cup. Fuck that was a long day.

I don't know. All I remember is standing in the only stand they had with one copper separating the Berwick lot calling the Thistle fans Scottish scum and the Thistle fans calling them English bastards. As I was in the middle of the Scottish contingent I thought it best to keep my trap shut.
Then the very nice lady from the refreshments room came round and gave us all free orange juice because as she said it was a very warm day and we should really drink something.
    Mad.
