I've rated Hooper for years and would love it if we got him!

Huge statement of intent of we somehow managed to get him. Can't see it happening as i would imagine he would want a prem side, but hell we might as well go for it.

Would be a great signing at this level.

if a team in this league were to go nuts with money and sign say £20m worth of players, then get promoted as a result, surely FFP would then have no impact as the club would be in the Premier League? Just a random thought that came to mind when I saw this rumour.

But with regards to hooper, he'd be a great signal of intent and would be class at this level, however with clubs like Norwich, Hull and Sunderland interested I can't see it happening really.

Would rather spend £5m on players proven at this level than one player who basically plays against pub teams every week.

He's no Messi but its a sad state of affairs and has been for the last 14 years or so that a player like Gary Hooper is off our radar.

He scored 19 in 35 for Scunthorpe in the Championship in the 09/10 season

True there are no sanctions until the 2014/15 season. A club with money could see this season as the last chance to spend big before the trap door closes. They could sensibly spend big on loans or one year contracts this season if they wanted.

Good point, but does that make him worth £5m?

This is why there can be no excuses this season, Billy says he's well aware about the weaknesses in our squad, the money is there we are led to believe, this must be the season.

Did you say the same about Van Hooijdonk when we signed him from Celtic?

I'm not saying they are of the same standard but that argument could of been leveled at PVH who was a massive part of our promotion campaign.

Steven Fletcher went to Wolves for £6.5m after scoring 8 in 35 for Burnley, so in answer to your question in this day and age, I'd say sadly yes.

But surely if you sign players on huge wages and fail to get promotion Ffp would shaft you in the years to come.

I hope that Fawaz is going to stun us all by signing 4 or 5 good quality players for decent amounts of money.

Imagine what a difference that would be compared to our usual slow start and gaps all over the team.

    He's taking his time though.
