    Default Steve McClaren...

Afternoon Forest fans, Wolves fan here after what has been an absolute nightmare for us last season. Glad to see that you've had a decent season and only just missed out on the lottery of the play-offs although not happy to see Guedioura running the show for you when he should still be at Wolves! (Solbakken is a fucking idiot and sold him after watching one DVD of his performances in the previous season...)

We're being strongly linked with Steve McClaren and he's now the odds-on favourite to replace Saunders. I'm really not a big fan of him and after his record at Forest (win percentage of 23%) can you explain what went wrong and what type of football he plays?

Personally think it would be a disaster having him here when we have £16 million parachute payments affording us the opportunity to spend a fair bit in the transfer market to buy some absolute crap like Ishmael Miller, Matt Derbyshire, George Boateng and Jonathan Greening... makes me shudder at the thought of it!

Anyway, all feedback appreciated to consolidate my opinion of him being an absolutely shit and over-rated manager.

He was not backed and started panic buying a load of shit cheap players with high wages.

He was terrible, but the previous chairman not backing him as much as he believed he would was apparently a significant factor. Nevertheless, he brought in a bunch of old has-beens on high wages he subsequently failed to perform. We're still struggling to move on several of them, but it's basically impossible as nobody else in their right mind would pay them the sums that we are. Tactically, he left a lot to be desired, he took a team that reached consecutive play-offs to circling the drain in several short months. The only positive of his reign was that he resigned before he was sacked.

In short, pray you don't get him. He was a calamity that thought the lower leagues would be a walk, when (as Wolves have found out this year) they are anything but.

All the best for next year, I wouldn't wish McClaren on anybody.

worst manager we've had in 20 years (and we've had some bad ones!), wasted loads of cash on players that were past it, clueless. You'll end up in the conference with that clown in charge!

    good luck anyway!

I almost feel sorry for you.

McClaren is a hapless idiot who was completely out of his depth in the Championship.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Awful manager who seemed to know nothing about the Championship so god help you if he gets the job in charge of a League One side.

Expect him to spend lots of money (if available) on ageing journeymen and guide you towards the bottom of the table in sensational fashion.

Seriously, there aren't many people you'd be worse off with in charge, and I'm including people generally in that, not just football managers.

Whether he was backed or not isn't relevant. He took over a team that had got to the playoffs for the second year running. He brought in 2 past it central midfield players, an area where we were quite strong. He brought 2 "strikers" who did nothing. He is a bollox of a manager and should be avoided.

Yeh backing has nothing to do with it, he was just shocking in every way, including his attitude which in my opinion was appauling. Didn't appear to really give a sh*t and then walked off in a huff citing a "misunderstanding" which was clearly just an excuse.

Don't touch him with a barge pole, or any other type of pole for that matter.

It all went wrong when he started doing the job and it only started improving when he didn't.

If this happens it shows your board have learnt absolutely nothing.

I reckon he might yet be a success somewhere. He did well with Middlesbrough. He just needs to find the right club for him. Wolves might be it.
I hated him, though, and was very insulted that he replaced Billy Davies.

Thanks for the feedback guys, here's hoping and praying we don't end up with him! Personally think we'll end up with Steve Davis at Crewe or Owen Coyle but expecting the worst (McClaren) but we'll see. Good luck with getting promotion next season in what is a massively open Championship division.

My dear god. Get everyone you know and organise a protest outside the ground. Because if this happens you'll be out of the frying pan and into the fiery pits of hell. The man is utterly clueless and is NOT a leader.

I've never been that fond of Wolves, but jeez, no one deserves Schteeve at their club.

I genuinely hope for the sake of your club that your board don't do something monumentally stupid like give him the job.

All the best for next season, L1 as we know can be a very tough league to get out of!

A team where he is bankrolled by Steve Gibson?

McClaren was tactically inept, and exhibited odd behaviour. Examples include starting Findley and Garner together up front, "schmelling the history", and sitting in every available seat of a half-demolished stand during 45 minutes at Vicarage Road. I genuinely felt sorry for Wolves this season. I will feel even worse for them if they appoint Schteve.

We still haven't recovered from the catastrophic damage Shteeve McClaren caused this club in his brief tenure. We're still paying Matt D****shire's wages & I suspect Ishmael Miller's too again.

    Charmless, clueless and inept.

    And so are those two.

If Schteve McClaren is forced upon you, your initial thoughts of "that twat with the brolly", and "that twat I want to punch for doing that...Dutch...interview (which STILL makes me bite my knuckles to the point of drawing blood)" will be the thoughts that stay with you, foremost, until his departure.

Responsible for some of the most embarrassing, inept & disastrous on-field performances it has been my misfortune to watch.

If you are able to campaign actively to stop your board hiring him, do so.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

He's not as bad as these lot are suggesting. He came in after a popular manager (Billy Davies) was sacked. The fans were against him from day 1. The players were like little spoilt brats too. The same players had finished top 6 twice but because they didn't like the manager they refused to perform. Lee Camp was a very bad egg in the squad. Overall though, he's not the man to take you up. He's not the best but he's certainly not as bad as most forest fans will have you believe

On the flip side, if offered Cotterill, then you should take Schteve with open arms.

He's a man that has read lots of books on winning, nuanced facial expressions and motivational speeches, but he struggles to deliver any of his acquired knowledge. This is mostly because he is an inherently boring man.
