    NEXT SEASON....

For the start of next season we'll be splitting into 2 leagues of 12, DIV 1 and DIV 2. There's also room for a DIV 3 if there's 12 others want to join in.

This means we'll have 2 seasons of 22 games within an actual football season with promotion / relegation of the top / bottom 3 teams.

The final placings of this trial will dictate which division we all start in (obviously top 12 start in DIV 1).

Because all the teams we use for the scores must be playing in Leagues 1 & 2 for all this to work, we will need new teams and the below image shows how these will be allotted.

In DIV 1 where teams to be allocated are subject to the play-offs, the highest position shown that doesn't get promoted will be allotted.

The teams allotted will last for 2 of our seasons (1x actual football season) before new teams would then be required and allocated in this same way.

There will be one concession; Because somebody could end up with Notts County (if they don't get promoted), if this is against their 'footballing religion' they will be invited to swap them for the winners of the League 2 play-off final. It will be their decision. lol.

    Template for team allocations:-

    Hope this all makes sense.

Anybody looking in who'd fancy to join in and start off in a DIV 3 can post on this trial thread at anytime while it's running. We need 12 to fill it.

1 goal if your team doesn’t play seems a little unfair. Maybe a average goals scored from last 3 matches would be better or something similar?

Thanks to you for giving it a go, hope you find it enjoyable!

    Please remember:-
Scores will only be taken from games played on a Fri / Sat or Tues / Wed.

If your team doesn't play for whatever reason I'll award you ONE goal. It's down to your opponent then to match or better it.

I'll only take fixtures when majority of teams play at same time. If your team plays on an odd day, say Monday, their score will not be carried forward to the next main fixtures!

Please feel free to point out any errors but bare in mind this is a trial. I'll be doing my best for us all.

    LET BICKERING COMMENCE!!......

If you apply scores to postponed games, what will you do when the rearranged games are played? Over a full season don't you risk having teams playing too many games, or are you just taking the original pre-season published fixtures which don't account for postponements and rearrangements for cup runs etc

    Can we cheat?

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

Don’t worry, our league position is just alphabetical.

In that case you could cheat by changing your user name.

If I changed my user name then someone else could change there’s to T.B.T. and that could get messy.

Here's how I see it uredsuns; If somebodies team isn't playing it's 'the luck of the draw' and all this is only in the name of a bit of fun. However, I decided that awarding the person one goal means they still have a chance of coming out on top....in the name of a bit of fun. Plus it also gives the person playing against them something to think about!

If I were to start using averages of past scores then it starts to take the thing beyond 'a bit of fun' for me to run. And what if an average works out at 0.5 or 1.5? I do see it as fair in as much as the same rule applies to us all.

Hope my explanation makes sense, you raised a perfectly valid point.

Even if ALL the postponed games get played on the same day it means that 15 out of our 24 teams are in action. I'll be looking for at least 18 of the 24 to be scheduled to play over a Tues/Wed or Fri/Sat before it's deemed a fixture time for us. Therefore the re-arranged games will come and go without affecting us. We will all have the same amount of fixtures, it can be no other way.

My fixture against TBT is the only one where the games for both teams haven't been cancelled
