They'd all been at James Vince's wedding the day before. A lot of hungover cricketers in attendance apparently..

The wedding was a stylish event for an hour before ending disappointingly early leaving guests feeling unfulfilled.

I'd like to have seen the pool of players for each round. The most interesting thing about the draft was who the selected players were chosen ahead of it.

But believe it was considered listing all available players would be a bit humiliating for those players who weren't selected.

So, like a typical England innings, then?

After watching the NFL every year that was pathetic in comparison.

Excited to see how badly the whole thing goes.

In fairness cricket was never going to compete with the US and it's number one sport for gradiosity, even with Sky Sports on board.

It'll be the IPL draft they're inspired by. Can't say I've seen in though.

Other than knowing that some sort of draft process was happening somewhere, I genuinely knew fuck-all else about it, that is until a bloke in my local started to relay the proceedings from his phone. However, somebody told him to "shut the fuck up" when he began to interrupt a game of Sticky 13s.

Newell was selecting players alongside Fleming, and they filled the Trent Bridge team with Notts players. Can't remember who the other guy was, or if he was ex Notts as well (Not sure what Mitchell is on about in the article below)

Seems the players themselves all put themselves in at a set price. Then the selectors had so much money to spend. Presumably looking at the squad they selected, Notts will have coordinated beforehand who put themselves in at what price so they knew they could select the the players they wanted.

If the ECB were genuinely serious about these franchises representing three counties each, they surely would have stipulated a minimum and maximum number of players per team from each one.

Derbyshire after all have just made the T20 finals days just like Notts. Madsen went somewhere else. No players from Leics were selected.

    Newell out.

Probably do quite well with a bunch of players that know each other plus a handful of internationals. Notts are consistently one of the best white ball teams. Just didn't really seem in the spirit of things.

You make some good points FB, particularly your last comment.

Decent first draft for the Rockets. Looking forward to this.

Steve Fleming said in an interview that he will have about 3-4 days to work with the whole squad before the tournament begins, so it makes sense to have a nucleus of players who know each other, instead of relying on the big names. It is unfair on the decent players in the Derbyshire and Leicester sides though.

I think I read that Notts in total will lose 8 players to the Hundred, which will make their team selection for the County 50 over games, to be scheduled at the same time, interesting!

    Bairstow got another golden duck.

Wonder how many ducks he's had this year. Must be at least close to an international record.

Paul Coughlin returns to Durham. Another Newell signing one that worked out well.

Chris Jordan is brilliant in this situation. Remember when he limited Pakistan to 3.

...And he hit 12 off three to tie the game. When's the rerun.
