As posted before, I can claim a small pension next April, as a result of a few years working for the ĄMoDď.

Nowhere near enough to retire on though, not even close. I just find it a bit weird.

Iím still umming and ahhing about stepping off the treadmill altogether.

I donít really have a pension pot to fall back on, but with the sale of the business I could live comfortably with what is in the bank.

The only problem is the young doctor, she doesnít want me to stop, certainly not yet.

I will however stop at 60 regardless. Iíve always said Iím going to cycle round the world at 60 and nothing is going to change that.

Sounds like your problem is you've to much money.

I reckon a few of us could help with that.

Food electric and other living costs like private health insurance cost me more out here than the UK.
I get around 200 a month from a council pension and the missus gets around the same from a nursing pension. I rent out my upstairs apartment for Ä 320 a month which I have to pay 15% tax on. Ok the house is paid for but I still pay taxes on it.
You can live cheap but I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.

If it was just me Iíd do it tomorrow, probably out in Greece, Portugal or Costa Rica. As I said earlier the problem is the young doctor. She worries far too much about what her peers think rather than living her own life.

For her itís all about having the right house, car, lifestyle and job.

Funnily enough though from talking to her family and friends all that they are bothered about is seeing her happy.

She thinks everything can be fixed with money, yet at times sheís the unhappiest girl I know.

    Itís sad really.

I'd just want enough not to get up at stupid o'clock, not to work for a **** and be able to do something to make a difference. I'd like to volunteer for building projects in awful places, deliver aid to those in need and teach them skills they can use to make their own life better. I'm not a fan of handouts but education, unfortunately doing it now would severely affect my own quality of life.

You can go and actually work for people doing exactly that already, why volunteer?

    Pays well too.

A mate of mine is off to Norway soon to work on a fish farm. Thirteen weeks straight through of 12 hour shifts. Heíll walk out with over £30k in his bank account.

The things some people do for money?!!

I hope you've given your mate a stern lecture on the damage fish farms do to the sea bed.

    Nope.

Actually my statement might be a bit inacurate, their UK Head Offce is actually sheffield, but the site I deal with is Nottingham.

Finally caved in and bought some cheap jogging bottoms to try at work.
I can't stand how they look, they remind me of the strong mong/gym boy image, but they are comfortable.
