Not so much the centre of the city (although I’ve seen a few Defenders about, and of course, the ubiquitous Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is highly popular here) but a mere ten minutes outside the city I have some frankly spectacular scenery of course, and the Black Forest to investigate.

Would be much easier with a Landie, alas it seems that short of robbing a bank, or a win on the Baden-Württembergischen State Lottery, such a beast might be out of my price-range (as is a G-Wagen, also).

In truth, you don’t really need a car in the city centre, such is the quality of German public transport.

I was listening to the chairman of a 4x4 club speaking on the radio some years ago and he said his best vehicle by far was the Lada, which he said he had used numerous times to pull Defenders and Landcruisers out of mud and snow.

    A bit like the AK47 I suppose?

The first time you take a Kalashnikov apart and field-strip it, and you see there are only four parts, a receiver and a bit of bent wire inside the breech, and you look at it and say “is that it?”

So, I retrieved the old shed door from the wood-store, removed the old hinges and latch, sanded it down and treated it with sadolins, then using brand new ironwork, hung it complete with a proper bolt.
As I notoriously bad at DIY I was really please when the wife came to take a look and admired how it was so well hung.
And how did she like the gate?!

The old joke is that Mr Kalashnikov died last year and was buried in Moscow cemetery.

They dug him up last week and found him in perfect working order.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

Just saw that our air pollution today, which is normally around 112 (below 150 is considered safe unless asthmatic or a baby) is 355 which is higher than Beijing, it makes your eyes itch. Think I will stay inside today, not adding that shit to my already clogged lungs.

I used to lodge with my pal and every night at about 9.30 I'd be fucking starving and go off in search of food much to his amusement. After a couple of weeks, the penny dropped "it's you you ****". I'd been sat next to him whilst he was smoking and getting happily as stoned as a beetle without realising it.

Just sorted a ticket for VfB Stuttgart against RB Leipzig in March.

    They plan ahead, these Germans.

Got back from a kids rugby tournament. I effing hate rugby and even worse when it is kids. Just took loads of photos and let the rugger bugger teachers deal with shit, I don't know the rules and asked how many point a touch over the line scores. They looked at me like I am an idiot, which, to be fair is kind of relevant.

I've spent all day fitting a laminate floor. Being starving, knackered and with the house looking like a bomb site, I went to tbe chippy for a much earned tea. While waiting for my fish to cook I finally got to check my phone to see how much Wolves had thrashed us by
