Bit shocked at that, I thought he would have wanted to finish the job and get them back up at least. Maybe he wants a long overdue break

Maybe he wants to prove he can do it elsewhere? His Burnley stint sent him crying back to Bournemouth.

Managers generally take a year or so before taking another job. Karanka's only just back into a job, and look at Pochettino - even one of the highest-rated coaches in the world who could get a job anywhere, but still waiting.

Doesn’t mean they deserve a break it just means that they’re paid shit loads so can afford to sit on their arse until a manager in the job they want gets the sack

Or 7 years in Billy Davies’s case

Being a football manager can obviously takes it toll on a person's health. Numerous examples, but as this is a Forest forum might as well start with the top one.

Aye, the more you fail the richer you become.

The likes of Pardew and McClaren have made a career of it! Nice work if you can get it.

I feel really sorry for the poor hard done by overworked football managers

The poor little lambs need some time in their safe space

He looks like a rejected character from Joe90 or Thunderbirds if you ask me...

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

    He should either:

    A) go abroad where the playing field is more level and have a chance at winning something

    B) wait for an underachieving club that will give him bajillions to spend like Everton or Wet Sham

    C) wait for the Celtic or Rangers job so he can inflate his win ratio, win a two horse race, get knocked out of Europe early every year and then get a good Prem job

What he’ll probably do is take a year out then come back at another no-hoper also-ran like Newcastle .

If he plays his cards right he could end up England manager. If he doesn’t he could be the next Alan Curbishley or John Gregory.

Obviously southgate is doing a fantastic job.

In another universe Howe would be a fantastic england manager
