Don't know about the top 10, but our record is the £3.5m we paid Celtic for Pierre Van Hooijdonk.

I think top 5 are from memory

    1 PVH
    2 David Johnson
    3 Earnshaw
    4 Andy Johnson
    5 Collymore

Not sure though. How much were Silenzi and Roy?

Half a million of that PVH fee was - I think - dependent on us staying up that season.

    Which we didn't.

    Very shrewd.

The 3 Italians didn't cost that much. More like 2.5million

Bart-Williams was 2 million-ish and Kev Campbell was around 2.5 million.

    I make it:

    1. PVH
    2. Johnno
    3. Brian Roy
    4.Kevin Campbell
    5. Stan/CB-W

Imagine if Baxter had been able to replicate his pomp at Forest! A player I would pay lots of money to go back in time and see in the flesh.

    Something like that

    Who else did he buy?

    Johnno 3.0M?
    Stern John 1.5M
    Useless Italians 2.5M
    Scimeca* 3.0M

There's £10M to be getting on with

The idea of 'record' transfer fees is silly, given inflationary rates that aren't taken into consideration.

.....and that the very notion of transfering records is just plain silly. I used to sell a few in selectadisc in my youth but that hardly counts.

Yes, if inflation comes into account Francis and Fashanu must come into the reckoning.

Not to sure but i think we paid something silly for Nigel Quashie. Supposed to be the next Paul Ince as Bassett said

David Johnson & Pierre Van Hooijdonk @ 3.5m
    Bryan Roy 2.9m
Nigel Quashie, Andy Johnson, Kevin Campbell, Chris Bart Williams, Gianaluca Petrachi, Alan Rogers 2.5m
    Stan Collymore 2m
    Andrei Silenzi 1.8m

Was Nigel Quashie black? Because Paul Ince is - apparently.

The fact we paid anything for Nigel Quashie was silly let alone the £2.5M we did. Not one of Dave Bassett's better buys.
