Skip the intro to about 0:30, there’s two chords before the single note motif (C B C B). I think it’s D7 to Csus2 but can’t tell with all the distortion.

It's a bit hard to hear like you say. Chordify agrees with you if that's any help. Although how accurate they are dunno.

I’ve been watching that! Thanks mate.

D7 resolves to G7, I think it’s that, especially going to the Cmaj motif after.

Used to use ultimate guitar but find the place difficult to load now.

Sadly I had to google him because I'm old. First thing I find is he's nicked the music from the Isley Brothers, or do they call it sampling these days?

Wouldn’t surprise me, I don’t think Vernon Reid did anything the easy way around.

I’ve packed my gear away now but will give Csus4 Cmaj a go with the recording another day.

If by "these days" you mean the 80s then yes, sampling.

Name me some artists & tunes you enjoy chap?

I've always liked a bit of jazz as a side-serving, and wouldn't mind checking out a few more bits & bobs.

I like Esperanza Spalding mainly her early stuff, Pinski Zoo, Dylan Howe son of Steve, Gilad Atzmon, Jeff Berlin, Bill Bruford. Loads of stuff really.
They used to have excellent jazz nights at the Bonington theatre Arnold on a Thursday, don't know whether they still do.

    John McLaughlin

    Wes Montgomery

    Freddie Green

...anything that includes any of those three will give you a decent grounding in jazz guitar.

Of course, the incomparable Jeff Beck, who is an absolute proper jazzer (check out the album Blow By Blow which is frankly superb) is also well worth bowing-down in worship to.

Similarly to that, I was watching how Andy Summers plays Roxanne and it seems he plays the first Dm chord open and the second one on as a barre chord on 5th fret with a D#M7 inbetween. You wonder why not play both Dm on the 5th fret. Probably some very subtle differences you can barely here in there somewhere.

Both great players, used chord inversions. Johnny Marr was brilliant at it, I can’t even begin to think where his head was at but it sounds ace.

    Gotta love Fender.

I don’t know what the lads in California are smoking, but it’s some good shit.
