at the moment i have an irig2 to plug into the laptop and then use GarageBand to record with but im looking at upgrading to a proper set up
FocusRite Scarlett for me, the one with two inputs, into GarageBand.

I can also connect my Katana to my MacBook via USB and GarageBand sees that as an input source too.

    It works quite well!

Presonus iTwo into Presonus Studio One.

Best recording set up for the average user by a country mile.

I've been looking at similar and I don't get them - I assume that you mic up your amp and plug the mic into the Focusrite box?

You can do that or plug your guitar into it.

I should be doing some recording in Wednesday, I'll try to get a picture.

I got hit with the old "is that one on ebay any different from what you have??!!??"
needless to say I was stopped in my tracks and by the time I talked her round, the object of my GAS had gone!

on the subject of recording at home, I find I can get some really good results from Garageband and an irig. I have the irig XLR too, and plan to at some point try and record drums using a mixer.

For anyone yet to try it, and with more than one device, the jam session on garageband is a great thing. Allows for individual tracking, and if you play to a click then you have the option to pretty much edit however much you want.

I'm having similar problems jimbo. I've tried a similar tactic when SWMBO goes looking for new shoes but it doesn't seem to work that way around.
