Yes but we've told them we'll take ronaldo on loan for a season to cancel the debt.

    Doubtful, but feasible.

Man United are massively in debt, and owe money all over the place.

Doubtful because I imagine any loan for Ferdinand would have been paid back by now.

It is possible that Doughty Hanson have a financial interest in there somewhere though, but it would be nothing to do with Forest at all.

    Talk to me, Goose.

Isnt it an urban myth that Doughty owns rios contract?

There was a lot of rumur about Rio coming to play for Forest in the season he was banned. *People were claiming that:-

    1. Rio was technically owned by a financial company that paid for the deal and was in effect leased to manure. *Doughty was alledged to have been involved in this fincial deal somewhere.

    2. He was only banned from the premiership and manure wanted him to maintain match fitness by playing in the championship and as Doughty was involved in finacing the deal the natural choice was Forest.

Point one may be true to some degree.

    Point two was bollocks.

So I doubt that manure owe money to Doughty but they may well be paying off a loan in much the same way that we had to when we bought Johnson.

Doughty Hanson have their fingers in quite a few pies (including a 22% stake in Setanta Sports), but I can't see any involvement in anything to do with the purchase of Rio Ferdinand.

Doughty helped Leeds to finance the Ferdinand deal when they bought him off West Ham. *

Would imagine United bought him out of the contract when they took Rio to Old Trafford.

For those who are interested here are the investments past and present made by Doughty-Hanson:

Shame they sold the Priory in 2005. I'm sure that would have come in handy.
