Just wondering whether anyone on here had an England membership, I'm looking to go to the Sweden v England game in November, managed to find quite cheap flights over there, but just found that to stand a chance of getting a ticket for this game you have to be an england club member, which costs £75. Does anyone have any idea whether I'd be able to get in the England end on the day as I don't see them selling out for a pointless friendly, I'd much rather watch the game in a bar in stockholm than pay £75 just for the opportunity to buy tickets. Or even better if anyone has an england membership and would be willing to let me borrow it a few beers before an upcoming game at the CG would be a perfect swap!
Have you tried contacting the ground direct or are the English considered not capable of behaving abroad still? I agree with you £75 quid just for the opportunity to buy a ticket is disgraceful.
The FA check on everyone that buys a ticket for away games to make sure that they actually travelled to the city in question (plane boarding tickets, hotel receipts etc).

It's not £75 just to buy a ticket. That's a 2 year membership including guaranteed tickets for Wembley, £5 off per home game and a few other odds and sods. Unfortunately due to England supporters 'History' it's neccessary to coordinate who gets their hands on tickets.
I've got a membership redforevermj but I'm afraid, I can't really use it to get tickets for someone I don't know - plus I'd have to provide proof I went to the game (airline travel stubs etc.) or I can lose my membership.
However, it might be worth keeping an eye on the England v Poland thread - which I'll find in a minute, as some guys are doing exactly the same as you for the Poland game next week.
The slight difference is that the Sweden game is a friendly so they may be slightly less strict on selling tickets directly from Swedish outlets.
Since Euro 96, the membership scheme seemed the fairest option for England fans. Just like with most league clubs including Forest, you were prioritised for away tickets, the more "caps" you had, the better the chance of obtaining tickets. Back in the mid 2000's demand far outweighed supply and the scheme was necessary as only fans with the highest amount of caps could get tickets for the Euro's and WC finals. Also the scheme almost certainly helped fill the home games at Old Trafford and Wembley when we were playing shit friendlies on a Wednesday night, because all the members needed their cap. These days however I'm not sure the scheme is as successful, thanks to Steve McClaren not qualifying for the Euros then the World Cup being in South Africa. I haven't been a member since SM took the enjoyment out of it, but still receive emails from Englandfans guaranteeing me tickets as long as I sign up for a discounted price.
My experience of travelling with England 4 to 8 years ago though was that no matter which game I was at, I could of bought a ticket outside of the ground off a tout. In Germany 2006, even at the Portugal game, tickets were available to buy... Couple of hundred quid, yes.. but still available non the less. In Barcelona a year later when we played that god awful game against Andorra I remember being offered tickets outside the ground five minutes after kick off for face value.
The other thing I remember so well about travelling with England was that the only thing spoiling a cracking weekend away, was having to leave the pub for a couple of hours to go and watch the game.
If you have chance to go, even without tickets, just go and take pot luck when you get there.
There's two memberships, a £50 (Silver) and a £75 (Gold). With the £50, you just get guaranteed home tickets and £5 off a game - plus a few other bits and pieces which I can't remember. As it lasts 2 years, if you go to all the home games, it kind of pays for itself as there's normally 8-10 games in that period.
The £75 allows the above, plus you can apply for Away games. I only upgraded my membership for the last two years as 1) we had Wales in the qualifying and really wanted to go to the away leg - and 2) me and my mate were going to go to the Euros.
As my mate foolishly got his wife pregnant with a due date last June, the euro's went out of the window (and I went to China instead).
We're planning on going to San Marino away next year (as we've both blasted our annual leave from work this year) and then saving up for a trip to Brazil, if we get there. Plus there's some interesting looking Friendlies against Brazil and Scotland next year.
Thanks for the info Tutts, may have a think about the silver one.
