Just trying to provoke reaction so someone explains it to me rather than pi$$ taking!
Give it a poll will you
I know quite a bit about Simon Gillet and absolutely no pundit has picked out Gillet as an exciting good player in the championship, there is no point of a forum if you cant express views on football you might aswell pack in and just say 'dosent matter what i say i am not as knowledgeable as any football manager' basically if we go round saying SOD knows more then us then thats fair enough it just makes a forum pointless and anyone who disagrees with SOD is wrong because they havent played pro football or managed pro football.Originally Posted by EmmersonForest4
Its nothing to do with his price tag there are great frees knocking about but Gillet in the grand scheme of things is a piss poor signing and non sensical considering we have 5 central midfielders. People have to stop this talking about him as the championship xavi and that he is going to ignite all other players round him to play great passing football.
This signing is a crony signing its not because Gillet is the best midfield option we have is Coppinger next i thought SOD would move on from the Donny days and start to show that he is a manager who can manage at the top echelons of the English game and not a man who buys all the same players and relying on players that he tested at Donny where he just managed to keep them up.
Dont get me wrong its only one ex Donny player and if we bring in Ayala that would be a great signing so SOD is still on course to make a solid championship team but another CM is no way needed.
Passed on your comments to SOD. He says thanks for your wisdom. As a man who has made a very decent living out of the game of football he feels it's only sensible to listen to ill informed rants on forums rather than his own skill and judgement given that the former is clearly a untapped diamond mine of astute advice. It really is difficult to do the level of gratitude he feels justice through the medium of mere words so when you've successfully managed to remove your head from your arse he'd be delighted to discuss the finer qualities of this country's many footballers with you, all of whom he is nigh on certain you've watched both regularly and in great detail and not just the odd few mins on sky or the football league show.
What im saying ex Donny players wont kick us on people on here have liked the fact we have made sensible signings at sensible prices and i agree with all of that except for Gillet. Some people on here are talking about Gillet as the championship Xavi and he really isnt.
Just rank our CM and then we will see this signing as pointless and non sensicle hes only signed him coz of his Donny days just rank in order of these CM
Mcgugan, Cohen, Majewski, Pep, Moussi, Greening. Moussi and Cohen are better CDMs then Gillet and Majewki and Pep are much better CAMs then him so how is he adding to quality of the squad he dosent keep the ball all of the time but dont get me wrong hes no mug on the ball just put this signing into perspective when we have no wingers and defenders. I still like the SOD appointment but it amazes me that people think Gillet quote 'is a great signing' i am more excited by halford then him.
I'm inclined to agree, centre midfield is not a position we needed to strengthen. He must be a SOD favourite.
He's 5ft 6in tall. Low centre of gravity pol. He offers something different. Watch the O'Driscoll interview on Forest Player and have your concerns quelled.
We didn't think McKenna was something we needed. Then by Christmas we was ringing up match line asking why he hasn't played in the PL. Then was glad to see the back of him. Pols.
McGovern.
They'll just see he's a midfielder and say oh we have plenty of those why do we need this little one who can't pass it longer then 5 meters
Let's give him a few games before talking him up or down, 60 minutes today isn't enough.
Looks like he's gonna be our new number 4
I like having a proper #4 player. It's like having our own poor man's Makelele.
Pol effort at a joke that
have a pol to find out?
Exactly! as SOD stated on the Player you can have loads of hi profile players but you also need some glue to hold it all together, We've plenty of good midfielders but not much glue. He's the glue man!
Agree with Dude and Anatoli, he could be a Mcgovern type player, as SOD stated on the Player you can have loads of hi profile players but you also need some glue to hold it all together, We've plenty of good midfielders but not much glue. He's the glue man!
^^ in the late 70s, the talk was always as to why McGovern was in the team. What did he offer?
But then, when he wasn't there, you saw why.
Mr. Clough's philosophy was "you get the ball, you pass it to a Red Shirt".
There was no finer exponent of that art than John McGovern!
"I don't want to be rude but I could not have gone to Derby. It was impossible"
Guy Moussi, July 2011.
I think you need to listen to SODs post match interview from yesterday.. He says in there players coming in might not look like they add anything to the squad but are needed.. Cohen is coming back from serious injury and Moussi is injury prone, who wil play CDM then?
We need to get the Swansea mould into our noggins. Allen/Britton/Sigurdsson. Not a bulky CDM in sight - the passing game doesn't require it. There's a reason we're signing defenders that are 6ft and over.
