Default Guedioura - Best signing since.....?

With the capture of the powerful midfielder you can really feel the good vibes coming from just about all Forest fans. It really has got everyone back into a positive frame of mind after the new manager saga.

Was speaking to my colleague last night at work and we were just discussing who we thought was our last signing we really got excited about?

I immediately though short term and players such as Gunter, Dex or Miller. But the more we discussed, other names were thrown in and we didn't really come to an agreement. As I'm sure we wont on here but just interested to hear some views.

Would you argue as far back as PVH even? ? ?

I would say Raddy. Remember the pressure the club was under from the fans to sign him when he was on loan? Much the same situation as Adlene

    Very true.

But also take into account the impact he can have in the long term.

Guedioura, can honestly become one of the greatest players to ever play for Forest. That's how highly I rate this signing.

Can't honestly remember the last player I had that feeling about (hence, this thread)

Why I still think PVH is a good shout

Obviously not worked out YET. But I think the majority were all looking forward to him "banging" in the goals...

Gunter was a great capture at the time.

The Adlene scenario is one of a kind. We were all in love with the geezer already. Most other big signings - Stan, PVH, Earnie etc. were centered around a feeling of 'this guy could be really good', whereas we all know that Adlene is a certified Forest legend in the making. This is rare.

Blackstock was a top signing for me - really signified the step forward from L1 outfit to top 10 Champ one.

The most excited I got over a 'signing' was Verhoek

This is the most excited I've been over a signing, maybe Blackstock. Before 07-08 I was a lot more of a casual fan and would be one of those people who would hear of signings from East Midlands Today etc, seems bizarre now that I had so much time out of the game where I wasn't even aware Forest were playing etc or check results but it was a 'dark time' in my life

Most gutted was when Pierre threw his toys out though.

As soon as he has 3 or 4 bad games the muppets on here will be going on about how maybe he's not that good after all. Any more bad games than that and they'll be slating him and wanting him shipped out. Mark my words.

Cohen was a cracking signing. Also Camp for peanuts from QPR. And Dexter.

But in terms of hype and fans' excitement... there's been a few since PVH! Earnie was a good one. Then there's Marlon King, Kris Commons, David Johnson...

    Best signing since Verhoek...

This is an interesting question. I was impressed with the signing of Gunter but can't say it was to this degree.
Probably Earnshaw. He was a proven good player and it felt like we were properly competing in the transfer market.

Aaron Davies, based completely on his one man demolition of us.

I honestly think that within a few weeks it'll be Reidy getting all the paudits. He seems to have got himself into very good shape. If he's truly fully fit and manages to avoid injury he could quite easily be the player of the year in this division. He may have resembled a weeble when we signed him but we could be looking back at that signing as the best in recent years.

    Chris Gunter.

That was amazing, when we actually secured the signing of such a class player from a side like Spurs permanently after his loan spell.

I never expected us to be actually able to go on and sign him - let alone that he would be so consistently excellent for us.

Chin up fella. That's very unlikely. He's a machine. A MACHINE

The David Johnson one was a strange one. At the time, he was a well renowned goalscorer and a good age. But it was well publiscised that he failed a medical but Pratt rushed it through. Paid instand dividends but we all know how it turned out. But yeah, at the time, was a very good signing.

Wasn't that fussed over the other 2 tbh, King came from Gillingham for a start...

Raddy or Cohen for me, which is nice as both are still at the club.

If we're talking any kind of signing though, then O'Driscoll as manager pips Guedioura to best in a while frankly.

Raddy or Ando - now it's down to Adlene to prove he wasn't a loan flash in the pan.

    Hopefully he'll relish the challenge.

We were dead excited when Alan Roger and Andy Impey signed after their loan spells.

According to some papers, fee for Geddy was a straight £1million.
