If you're going to be ranked globally, you need to include the last full international tournament in the rankings.
People take the rankings far too literally, they're more a guide for future seedings than absolute Gospel.
If we're just going to go on the last Calender year on a who beat who philosophy - England would be ranked second, being the only team to have beaten Spain this year.
Update for people who get furious over FIFA Rankings - England will rise to third next month.
Clearly these rankings are flawed, but the slightly alarming thing is the decision on whether we can secure work permits for the Kuwaitis is partly based on these FIFA rankings. Maybe Kuwait's ranking is as wildly wrong as England's? Maybe Kuwait are nearer 70th in the world. Maybe they aren't. Just seems arbitrary that we could potentially miss out on a player based on this nonsense.
Sepp and his mates must be smoking some good shit.
Either that or FIFA have gotten confused and have started including Cycling in their rankings.
"I don't want to be rude but I could not have gone to Derby. It was impossible"
Guy Moussi, July 2011.
I think 3rd is quite right and befitting of our medal position.
Of course we should be ranked in the top 3, we invented the bloody game.
Gentlemen. Over here, we give the golden banana to anyone who takes the FIFA rankings seriously. Sepp and his buddies should never be taken seriously.
It would appear I have some bananas to give out..........
I'm quite suprised we're not higher. The Dutch are clearly past it - Robben and Wesley look ancient, the Spainish are tikky tacky defensive nonsense, Brazil don't have fat Ronaldo anymore, Argentina are a one man team and that man only plays well for Barcelona, Italy lost their last match 4-0.
We're number one.
A new direction? Squad for next weeks pointless friendly with Italy.
Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich City).
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Steven Caulker (Tottenham Hotspur), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).
Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Jake Livermore (Tottenham Hotspur), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Ashley Young (Manchester United).
Forwards: Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).
The unretirement of Carrick is interesting.
For Carrick's mum.
Wathing Brazil vs Italy and the upcoming England games its a great thread to reignite, just a few points Brazil are beating Italy 2 nil and to be fair the game at times hasnt been great tonight. We are still fourth in the rankings and all though I dont think we are that good I do want to stick up for teh rankings a bit and England, the rankings dont take into account technical ability otherwise wed be very low however it bases it self purely on results and to be fair to England although performances have been poor our results in the past 2 years have been very good we have beaten Spain, Brazil and Italy at the Euros although very poor we didnt lose a game again the rankings cany take performances into account also if you look at teams below us who you think should be higher have had some stinking results, Portugal loses Denmark annualy, France loses to Belarus had to go to a playoff for the world cup, Holland didnt get out the group stages.
I dont think were great but you can not argue with the results although they may be false.
I dont think were great but you can not argue with the results although they may be false.
As the talking heads once sang: were on the road to nowhere.
Hodgeson is the best manager since Robson, England look organised and hard to beat we have beaten Spain and Brazil and anyone who reckons because they were only friendlys need only to luck at last nights Italy-Brasil game. Brazil look ordinary compared to of old and i think it will be european world cup winners once again.
8-0! Come on England!
MOTHERFUCKINGDEXTERBLOODYBLACKSTOCKOHMYFUCKINGGODY ESGETINYOUMOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUCKINGHAVESOMEOFTHATYOUCUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I doubt even in the FA cup Man United vs Forest Green would be 8-0. I bet if I lived in San Mario then I could get in their team, and I last played football about 3 years ago.
