Default Coventry City in a real mess

Talking and nattering football today, with my pal.........I never realised that Coventry City were/are in such a real financial mess, relegation has now turned a couple of investors away.

Despite the efforts of life long Coventry fan who is Vice Chairman of the club, his proposed buy out seems to have floundered with relegation. The problems being Coventry City do not own their own stadium, so asset wise are very poor.

More importantly the season ticket money is already spoken for as cover for a large loan, this and general gate income are forced to drop next year in Div 3........they may well struggle to start another season, things are that bad.

By the sounds of it SISU do not give one shit about Coventry.

Interesting article here - Looks like the council are refusing to reduce the rent now they're in League one - and why not? I can't see the residents of Coventry wanting to pay the excess council tax.

Unfortunately, Portsmouth City has about 40,000 more people who actually care about their club.

Brings home the reality of REALLY not owning your own ground, unlike our situation, despite what the sheep think.

But there for the grace of God .......

Didn't realize that they were in such a mess either. I don't know why but I've an inexplicaple dislike for Coventry , so can't say I'm that sorry to see them in such a state.

Well they didn't publish accounts last year, figured they were in a mess, I fear the situation there is another Plymouth, who have just managed to avoid a 3rd successive relegation.

I'm going to take a moment to contemplate the plight of them.

    ...

    Right, over it now.

I don't have anything against Coventry City, and I feel sorry for their fans having to go watch home games in that horrible baby-blue bowl that is rarely over 50% full.

I don't know the stats but I bet they haven't finished in the top half of a table more than 1 or 2 times in the last 10 years

I'm sure that Richard Keys said that they had never been in the top six or bottom six of the Championship, not sure if that is true but it certainly sums up just how dull they are.

The fact Richard Keys supports them is good reason to hope they suffer.

Yep the main question that needs to be asked is, 'who gives a shit?'

I think I know the answer an it's 'not me'

That club should just fold and be done with it. Absolutely no point having them around. Darlington of the champ.. League one

Apparently they pay £1.5m alone every season just to loan the stadium.
I can't have too much sympathy for them because although we may be a league higher, things aren't exactly rosey in this garden.

What's that? Dodgy foreign owners that will only settle for 100% ownership of a club ..... In league one. I'm glad our situation is taking longer if it means the club won't be used to launder money or end up like Blackburn (of the championship) in any way, I hope.

Sounds rather familiar to us really. We got lucky in finishing the right side of the relegation line and we got investors. Can't begin to imagine what that must be like!

Bristol City apparently £14m in debt too.

There are a number of Football League clubs in real financial sh*t at the moment; unsurprisingly, this seems to have gotten worse since the founding of the Premier League, and their consolidation of all the money...

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
