Default Who would you sell to buy new players

Frank Clarke announced today that Steve has no money to spend and has to sell to buy players.

Who would you sell if the team are not performing by christmas and in the bottom half of the table.

    Chambers, Tugay,Morgan, Greening

    This.

On performance alone at the moment, no member of the squad (except perhaps Moussi) can be deemed irreplacable.

Greening, Reid, Morgan, Boateng, McGoldrick & Tudgay. But that's if anyone would be stupid enough to buy them.

Smith, McCleary, McGoldrick, Reid, Boateng and Greening?

Problem is you can't sell them until Jan and half the old ones wouldn't have any buyers!

It's a bit worrying, although understandable, as to how certain folk are wanting to sell players who we'd have fought tooth and nail to keep before McClaren's arrival.

New manager, new start - give all of them a go and see how they perform from there. Most of us would have accepted 500k for Lynch last season and hung on to Chambo for dear life.

When it the time does come to trim the squad it's simply gotta be donr on a "most money + least quality" basis.

    So, goodbye Andy Reid

I'd sell Smith, McGoldrick, Reid (If he still keeps ballooning in weight), Greening and perhaps McGugan. Maybe Chambers if his performances continue...

I'd sell MA to France and offer to light the fuse of the cannon that launches him there

On this note I'd be very suprised if Gunts was still with us after Jan - He'll be commanding a good wage coming from Spurs, rumours abound that the fallouts involve him, and Malony will be viewed as a capable and cheap replacement by Marthur.

Hell, after Cohen at left back Miller would be a viewed as a good enough replacement by Marthur.

Why don't you raffle that opportunity off?

You'd raise enough for at least 2, maybe even 3 new players!

Not trying to sound controversial but I seriously would sell McGugan if a team offered a few mil..

    Why should that be controversial?

With FFP very much in our minds a need to cut salaries, increase turnover and also provide funds for new players a decent to good offer for any player should be seriously considered.

Few mill? I'd sell him for £750,00 if I'm honest. Sounds controversial, but we play so much better when he's nowhere near the team. When he plays everyone seems to think we depend on him, which is far from the case.

And thus Marthur's masterplan is complete - if only he'd known that as a concequence of getting rid of Billy certain Forest fans would have been this eager to trim the wage bill - he'd have had words in Doughty's ear about hoofing the jock out a lot sooner.

We give McClaren a full pre-season and 10 games to get a home win with virtually a fully fit squad, but write off players who have produced for 2 seasons before they've even played for their new manager. nice.

You're right though - we need to revise a degree of judgement until Cotterill's had a chance to get to work with 'em - that includes the likes of Greening, Reid and Boateng as well.

Agree with your post until you mention Greening, Ried & Boateng.
    Greening doesn't care;
Reid peaked before Forest sold him and has been on a decline ever since
Boateng was great, wants to be great again but is simply too old and too slow - let him retire gracefully.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think they'll come good - but I've been wrong before and I dare say I'll be wrong again - and hope I am!

Of all the players who are due a good transfer listing after this seasons awful carry on, I'm amazed how many people feel Smith ought to go.

He'd hardly fetch any money, he's utterly blameless for this season's mess and I for one wouldn't want to go back to the days of a novice as cover, especially with a relegation battle possibly looming.

I've only recently stopped having nightmares about Roche's performances.

The big question for any would be purchaser is whether any of the squad could be remotivated to play as they once did.
None of them are currently doing that.
It was a concern to learn that when SM tried to introduce 2 training sessions per day, like at Premiership clubs the team's response was "we are happy where we are".
If it was my money being shelled out I would want some reassurance that the player actually had a burning desire to succeed.

The fact is, he's too good to be a back up, and he deserves to find a new club. We have Darlow who's a capable back up. Ans Smith would attract some buyers too, and for a good price.
