Default I like watching football on Sky

I know that this makes me a monster

A lot of the pundits are knowledgeable and interesting to listen to, they have top quality production values and there's always loads of stuff to watch - four tiers of English football, MLS, Eredivisie, La Liga. For a football fan it's a dream.

As our lord and saviour Thomas would say, 'fight me'.

I bet you voted Tory in the last election too, and you've kicked a kitten at least once?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Yes, of course. I also like to steal children's shoes directly from their feet

Better than BT, better than the BBC and ITV. For anyone who genuinely enjoys watching football Sky is the one.

You are feeding the monster that is killing the game.

    Nonsense.
The game looks pretty healthy to me.

There is nothing healthy about teams like Newcastle, Villa & Norwich coming down with £100m to spunk away

I think that depends how you look at it.

Through rose tinted glasses we sometimes forget standing in cages, or cowsheds watching people try to play on a ploughed up field.

Football certainly wasn't always the paradise some wax lyrical about, but for every advance there's been a regressive step too, usually for moneys sake.

I guess for each individual it's how you weigh the pro's against the con's & where your own personal balance is.

Football on TV looks very similar whether screened by Sky, ITV, BBC1 or BT. The bits either side and in the middle of the game differ, but that's painful on all four of them.

5Live is better than all of the them for idle sports chat when there's no actual live sport happening. Sometimes it is better when there is too.

When it gets to the point that even the biggest teams in the Chamions League are complaining about the lack of balance between the earning potential of the Premier League and Serie A, Lique 1, the Bundesliga etc, you know the game is going down the pan.

Far too much money getting thrown at too many average players.

Sky and the league they purport to represent are a caricature of what they should be. Obscene wages for failing to consistently win the biggest prizes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should win everything but with the vast wealth our domestic teams earn, we should do.

Add in the massive increase of foreign players lured to the Premier League, no wonder we cannot find enough good players to make the national team competitive.

Fuck Sky. The sooner Murdoch and his cronies piss off, the better.

I like 5Live; sometimes have the radio on when watching the TV. Only problem is the delay, you know what is going to happen on the screen before it happens! I get a bit shirty when Lawro and Alan Green get together, but mostly it's great commentary and I agree with you about their general coverage which is excellent.

Yeah, thankfully they seem to be phasing Green out.

For all the football on TV now, or there any great football commentators left on TV?

I like that they move matches to 5.30 when I can sit down with a nice drink to watch them.
If they showed them at 3pm I'd probably be in IKEA or somewhere which would be inconvenient.

    Were there ever any?

Even back in the day my uncle, who's been dead more than 30 years, used to watch football with the sound off because he hated the commentary
