    Andy Reid:

    Played: 290

    Total:

Just thinking that our squad although seemingly young it tends to have good experience of league football, although the recent additions of Boateng (If it goes through), Greening and Reid add to this a lot. Although this does prove we need to sign a proven goal-scorer, our totals squad's goals in their careers total up to 444, whereas Earnshaw has 187 to himself.

According to those stats, we're going to score 1 in 10. Great....

Try telling that to the flower-power crowd who were trying to justify his "sale". "In and out the side. Gets injured. Highest paid player blah blah blah"

He scored, end of. He was worth keeping and it will cost us more to replace them goals with a new player than it will to have kept him.

Robbie Findley's strike rate is very good. Lets hope he can stay fit this season.

Out of interest, how would u work it out?

I'm thinking find every players goal to game ratio, and then add it all up and times it by 46 for the number of games this coming season?

Why are stats so obsessed with goals scored regardless of position? It's the same with Sky Sports News, when there's an article on a defender they'll show footage of them scoring a goal instead of you know, defending well.

The stats are flawed, how many of those appearances include cameo substitute appearances in the last 5-10 minutes? I bet quite a few.

Very, Very true.. for example lets look at Mr. Adebola from last season.. at first glance you'd see 31 apps 3 goals which suggests a goal ratio of 1 goal every 930 minutes (1 goal every 10.33 games).. however if you actually look at the minutes he has played (taken from transfermrkt (usually reliable)) you will see he only played a total of 751 minutes which reworks it at 1 goal every 250 minutes which is just under 1 goal every 3 games (which some would view as prolific lol).. so yeah statistics can lie sometimes unless you go in depth.

P.s Torres last season in all competitions including games for Liverpool averaged a goal every 267 minutes.. we all know who chelsea should have gone for now!

for one player a goal just about every 3 or 4 matches isn't bad.

Joe Garner scored in 26.5% of games played (1 in 4ish)
Dex scored in 27.5% of games (1 in 4ish)
    Findley 38.7% (1 in 2 and a halfish)
    Tudguy 24% (1 in 4ish)

Someone should work out the goals per minute stats. And then perhaps weight it by quality of the opposition.

As long as that someone isn't me.
