Contribute LTLF sponsored Henri Lansbury during the 2012/13 season, and we would like to sponsor a player again next season. To do this we would like your help.

IF LTLF members can raise enough money required to secure the sponsorship of a players shirt for the 2013/14 season we will give away everything to do with the sponsorship as prizes to those that have contributed (prize draw to decide which members win the prizes)

Default Nicky Shorey and Darren Ambrose

On Sunday I was told that we had switched our attentions to Nicky Shorey and Darren Ambrose after Hammill looked like a no go.

My reply was "you sure that wasn't last year" and I didn't think it was worth posting. Last night fanhousepercy posted on twitter that we have had a loan offer for Shorey turned down so maybe there is something in the Ambrose link.

For what it's worth the same person told me last year we were looking at Wilfred Bouma and that was in the papers a few weeks later so there is possibly some truth in it.

The Shorey thing is in the paper today as well. Says WBA turned our loan offer down

Goes without saying though, that if it is true, it would be fucking amazing. Maybe Shorey wants to do something useful like for example, win the league with us, rather than sitting on the bench at West Brom?

Worth enquiring but doesn't look like he's coming. Let's move on.

Forget loans, we should put an offer in to buy. We can't lose on him. If we go up we have a proven Premiership left back. If we don't go up we will have the best left back in the league.

Not having him here last season cost us promotion. Billy even said that himself a couple of months ago.

Who cares if we have to spend 500k more than West Brom paid for him? Not signing him last season cost us a hundred mil. Let's not make that mistake again. The guy is class.

    Talk to me, Goose.

I don't think I'd like Shorey back, He didn't want to come back last year so why now There's alot more left backs out there anyway.

Yeah, Shorey's a class apart at this level. I can understand why the first approach was a loan bid, mind you.

We can pass on Ambrose, is he still at Palace?

If we signed Shorey, I'd be over the moon. He ticks so many boxes in terms of ability, position and experience.

I somehow doubt he will come or even want to, so calm down.

I'm not sure it's a case of he didn't want to come back, just that Fulham may have offered Villa more to loan him out.

I don't see any reason why West brom won't loan him to us. They are fighting to stay up and need a big squad but they did loan out Ismael Miller to Qpr.

But i think they will need him for cover for marek cech and they have already sent one left back out on loan in Joe Mattock.

    Please get Bertrand!

He stated that he was all set to come back to Forest when Fulham came in. Premier league or championship - no brainer for him when he had a small chance of making the England world cup squad. Plus Fulham would probably pay more of his wages from Villa's point of view.

Ashley Cole got injured around that time too, as I recall, so Shorey was in with a shout of a World Cup spot If he was at a Prem Club.

If we're now resorting to trying to get Shorey again we are fucked. Are there only two left backs in the Country FFS? There must be a decent left-back at championship level we could get which at least we may have chance of!

I bloody hate end of transfer window talk, I always say I won't listen or read too much into them, but I then get a sprinkle of 'what if' and I'm hooked again!!
