Default Quick Interview ahead of our game on Saturday!

    Hi there,

I write a pre-match article on a WFC forum before each game and that includes the opposition fans view, so I was hoping a few of you could kindly fill out the questions below for me to use.

I'll only be selecting a few due to space and I'll put a link for the post up on here when it's done.

    1) What were your pre-season expectations and how are you doing compared to those?

    2) What were your opinions of Watford in the summer and how do you rate our start to the season?

    3) We've got a former Forest product as our number one in Scott Loach, what's your general thoughts on him?

    4) What are your squads strengths?

    5) and the squads weaknesses?

    6) If you could have any one Watford player for your team, who would it be?

    7) Lastly, what's your score prediction for the game and why?

    Cheers lads.

    Good luck for Saturday.

    1. I had hoped to be doing a little better than we are. I didn't buy into the preseason hype of being amongst the favourites for the league, but had expected us to strengthen our squad significantly and be operating in and around the play-offs at least - so our lack of transfer activity and subsequent poor start to the season has been disappointing.

    2. I've been impressed with Watford of late - playing some decent football I hadn't always associated with them. Mentally I associate them in recent times with struggling either financially or on the pitch, but Malky Mackay seems to be changing this viewpoint despite a recent run of band results...

    3. Know very little about him - is he the one who's been ridiculously prematurely elevated to the England set up? Our resident goalkeeping expert (richjcrouch) rates him highly, and he knows more about goalkeeping than anyone I know - so he must be good!

    4. On our day we can pass our way through any team in this league. Sadly we seem to only have 'our day' once every few games, and then it only lasts a maximum of twenty minutes at a time!

    5. Lack of consistency in tempo and performance levels, and finishing off our chances when they come, lack of concentration at the back resulting in soft goals conceded. A recipe for the poor start we've had, I'm sure you'll agree!

    6. I had to check out your squad list - and to my shame I know very little of any of them!! The goalscoring records of Graham and Sordell catch the eye though, we really seem to lack players who can finish off chances.

    7. Your ground hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us, you're on a bad run.. doesn't bode well for an entertaining game, does it? I have a sneaking feeling we can nick this one, although there is an over-riding temptation to predict a draw as that seems to be our specialism this season!

    1) To challenge for promotion and atleast qualify for the Play-Offs.....until we signed nobody. Then expectation dropped to challenging for the Play-offs only

    2) I was expecting a struggle and perhap relegation, so I'm quite surprized with how you've done.

    3) Great keeper. Perhaps the only one I would take over Camp....not sure though.

    4) Playing at home and the first team. Definately not depth thats for sure!!

    5) The lack of depth and our away form......oh and David McGoldrick

    6) Graham - it would be Loach, but we already have Camp.

    7) 2 - 0 to Forest because we are awesome at home

I'll only be selecting a few due to space and I'll put a link for the post up on here when it's done.

    1) What were your pre-season expectations and how are you doing compared to those?

Many felt promotion. However, with the lack of player aquisition, I felt mid table. It's looking that way to be honest.

    2) What were your opinions of Watford in the summer and how do you rate our start to the season?
I felt you'd struggle, though were probably not the favourites for relegation the bookies had you. From your first televised appearance of the season though, I've been impressed with the workrate. You're much like ourselves - capable of playing some decent stuff but equally capable of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

    3) We've got a former Forest product as our number one in Scott Loach, what's your general thoughts on him?
He's no better than Camp, though his age and current residence in the England Under-21's seems to have graced him with some England senior jollies. Not commanding enough in the air for me but a decent shot stopper.

    4) What are your squads strengths?
Our lack of players has meant a more regular backline and midfield and prehaps increased the strength of continuity. We play some of the best football in the league on the deck -the Forest way - at times.

    5) and the squads weaknesses?
Finishing off those lovely moves has been our achilles heel. And our strength in depth is non existant.

    6) If you could have any one Watford player for your team, who would it be?
A couple of years back we were flying high in League One and played a televised game against near rivals Carlisle. Danny Graham bossed that game and scored the only goal. I said at the time he'd be ideal for us and stand by that notion. For 500k you got twice the player as David McGoldrick (£1.2 million.)

    7) Lastly, what's your score prediction for the game and why?

I've been to the last two games at your place and we've drawn 1-1 and 0-0. Both have been dreadful spectacles played on a pudding of a pitch. I'm expecting the same!

    1) What were your pre-season expectations and how are you doing compared to those?
For me personally, I expected Forest to sign a few half decent players & finish in the top 6 again. We've brought in Majewski & signed Bertrand on loan but I feel we need to heavily strenghten in January if we're to progress as a club.

    2) What were your opinions of Watford in the summer and how do you rate our start to the season?
Good start to the season I watched the opening game against Norwich live on TV & I was impressed. I expected you lot to finish around 15th/16th/17th this season but so far you've proven that you can challenege a playoff place.

    3) We've got a former Forest product as our number one in Scott Loach, what's your general thoughts on him?
He's definitely one for the future. Been called up to the England squad already, he's got a lot of potential.

    4) What are your squads strengths?
Our centre of midfield has a lot of talent with the likes of McGugan, Cohen, McKenna, Majewski & Moussi so be wary of their passing & McGugan's goal scoring abilities.

    5) and the squads weaknesses?
Conceding from free kicks, we've seen a few times this season that when an oppostion whips a set piece into our box our players seem to instantly turn into headless chickens!

    6) If you could have any one Watford player for your team, who would it be?
Danny Graham knows where the goal is so probably him. Dexter Blackstock & Rob Earnshaw are our only goal scoring strikers but they haven't really been scoring this season so I'd gladly take him off your hands. Other than him I'd take Loach off you but I wouldn't play him over Camp as I think Camp is better but Loach has the potential.

    7) Lastly, what's your score prediction for the game and why?
1-1, Forest don't play away from home. We've won 2 away league games in the year of 2010.

I don't doubt your stat there, Marshall - but I have to say that it's verging on obscene!

Unbeaten at home in the same period, 2 wins away...different formation & tactics away.... discuss!

    "This statement is false."

    1) What were your pre-season expectations and how are you doing compared to those? It depends on who you talk too. I had hopes of another play off push BUT the bookies at first had us as favourites, then we didnt really bolster the squad and sides like QPR and Cardiff took over the mantle. Anywhere above 10th should be seen as a good season, last year was a flash in the pan, we are still building and its going to take time I think.

    2) What were your opinions of Watford in the summer and how do you rate our start to the season? I honestly thought you might struggle with the off the field stuff but the start you have made has proven everyone wrong. Think you were tipped by many bookies to struggle but I believe you have a superb player in Graham who will score goals (would love him to play for Forest) and your manager is looking strong too.

    3) We've got a former Forest product as our number one in Scott Loach, what's your general thoughts on him? To be honest I have not seen him play too often, by all accounts he is a top keeper but didn't he make a bit of a balls up against the sheep shaggers last week? I prefer Camp.

    4) What are your squads strengths? We have an abundance of pace in Tyson, McClearly and Anderson when we need it, Chris Cohen is the work horse, the boy never stops running and I firmly believe we have the best striker in this league when he is on fire in Robbie Earnshaw. The defence is tight as we have seen last season and hopefully we starting getting a few more shut outs this season soon. Biggest strength is that they seem to be playing for each other for the first time in a few seasons and are mostly pretty young so can develop together over a few seasons.

    5) and the squads weaknesses? Squad size, I think I am right in saying that yourselves and us have used the least amount of players so far this season, thats our downfall.

    6) If you could have any one Watford player for your team, who would it be? Danny Graham all day long

    7) Lastly, what's your score prediction for the game and why? 1v2 we need to start winning away from home more consistently and its about time we beat you at your place

Sorry I couldn't use you all, it made for good reading for me anyway!

Also keep checking back later this evening for an exclusive interview regarding the game with Scott Loach.

Seems like we've let one or two decent players go at youth level who have gone onto to be players who would of got into the team now.
