Barwick is shit, glad he's going.
We need someone who knows about football, maybe like a past legend for England.

He's only the tip of the iceberg. Sure, it's good he's gone, but it won't change anything - the FA is a cash-rich, inefficient old boys network that needs clearing out from top to bottom.

Perhaps Lord Triesman will be the man for the job.

But while crazy ideas like the 39th game are being considered, I'm not holding my breath.

Now to look forward to the FA bungling the 2018 World Cup bid. Although if they did bungle it we wouldn't have to move to the DoughtyDome.

I can never take the bloke seriously and not just because of the utter bollocks he spouts.

He sounds like a character from Thomas the Tank Engine.

would be better off putting some completely random person in charge.

    would be more objective.

No, but the fact that he failed to get us to Euro 2008 does.

It's official, Topcat would argue that black is, in fact, white.

Barwick himself didn't, that appointment was poor, Capello was a good appointment from what we had available to us. The whole selection process should be looked at in my opinion.

Managed to not shag his secetary, Wembley, Burton, Appointed a true footballing man into the admin side of the F.A in a senior role (Trevor Brooking), Capello was a good appointment on paper, Appointed Pearce U21 boss, Apparantly done some very good business for the F.A in terms of the finances which will benefit the grass roots in the long term...its not all bad by any means. Its unfair to use the words 'roaring success' because I didn't say he has been a roaring success, I said he hasn't done a bad job.

    I actually misread your post.

I agree Barwick wasn't an unmitigated disaster - he definitely made a positive contribution in some respects.

All the same, I think it was the right time to look elsewhere.

    no.

English football isn't any better off now than when he took over - therefore he has done a s**t job.

'on paper' means f**k all though, on paper should we have qualified for Euro 2008?

Can't say Capello has been bad but he hasn't been a 'roaring success' either, he has a great record but is he actually the right man for the job? particularly with the amount he gets paid.

I like the guy and I'd like to see him do well, but that means that the England team have to play well - which is impossible.

    Pearce was a good choice.

Barwick doesn't pick the team, motivate the players etc. It would be naive to judge him on only what hes done in the short term

he picked the managers so is ultimately responsible.

He does fly to meetings he doesn't need to attend first class on our money.

He also installed nobodies first choice as England manager.

He is also the international 'face' of football for England. He hardly cuts an appropriate figure.

It's strange how people are so quick to berate Doughty, yet seem unable to see Barwick is in the same role.
