It's working well for me with the NFL.
I don't know how to do that! I just fill in the quick slip in the bookies!

    Talk to me, Goose.

Just tried to open an online account with Ladbrokes with my debit card, because I know that ive only got £3.50 on it, so thought "well if i put a few small bets on and win, great, and if i lose £3.50...shit happens"

Needed to have a minimum of a fiver

Haha, I've only ever been in a bookies once and I live in a village with no shops so I do it online. *You can bet live on certain things online too.

What do 4 fold/five folds etc mean? do they cost more to put on?

This is why we need a dedicated betting thread so we can have all this stuff explained.

It would need to be 18+ though

It took me a while to understand it but I'll try explain as simply as I can!

Say you pick 6 games for an accumulator... 4folds would be all combinations of 4 within that 6 (15 bets, 20 for trebles, 6 for fivefolds etc). So if you want to put £1 on for each fourfold combination, it would be £15 for the entire thing.

The thing about it is, in the fourfold, you can get 2 results out of the 6 wrong and still win money for the one combination of four that you get right.

I think it's basically a safety thing so if it completely fucks up, you get a bit back.

I had a 9 game NFL accy last weekend and I think I put 5folds and 7folds on it. I got one result wrong but still tripled what I put on originally Obviously if that one result had swung my way, I would have got a couple of hundred.

Problem with it is that it costs a lot more than a straight up accumulator then!

I think I might stick to just putting some accumulators on!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trixie_%28bet%29#Trixie

That'll explain what all your doubles trebles etc.... are and also let you work out how much each bet will cost to place.

Eg. Lucky 15, 4 games picked covered for 4-folds (all results) trebles (any 3 out of 4) doubles (any 2 out of 4) and each game individually

You're much more likely to return a profit taking the risk as if say you bet on 8 games and miss out on 2 if you've got 5, 6, 7 folds and Accumulator as long as you've not bet on Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Rangers, Celtic etc... you'll return a healty profit. just reduce your stake to 25p or so

I might give it a whirl this weekend actually.

You never know, could be worthwhile!

Anyway I think my sole bet for the weekend is gonna be:

    Derby v West Ham 6/5
    Portsmouth v Man City 1/1
    Crystal Palace v QPR 11/10
    Ipswich v Bristol City 11/10
    Wolves v Barnsley 4/6

May if i'm feeling lucky add

    Bolton v Middlesbrough 11/10

Without Bolton that works out at roughly 63/2

With Bolton 69/1 but I imagine I'll change this at least 100 times before saturday.

Also Tempted to have all these as draws:

    Sundeland v Newcastle 9/4
    Birmingham v Aston Villa 11/5
    Blackpool v Scunthorpe 9/4
    Leicster v Burnley 12/5

    Pays out at 114/1

Here is my bet for the weekend.
Home teams on the left, away teams on the right:

Watford to beat Colchester at 1/2
Wolves to beat Barnsley at 4/6
Carlisle to beat Grimsby at 2/5
Luton to beat Brentford at 8/13
Liverpool to beat Fulham at 1/3
Tottenham to beat Wigan at 1/2
Man Utd to beat Blackburn at 4/11
Sunderland to draw with Newcastle at 11/5
Birmingham to draw with Villa at 2/1
Gainsborough to lose to Hartlepool at 1/2
Chelsea to beat Everton at 4/11
Mansfield to beat Lewes at 8/13

    Works out at roughly 300/1

So my £5 will return £1500 or there abouts.

Portsmouth v Man City 1/1 <---- Risky again, could go either way.
Crystal Palace v QPR 11/10 <---- More likely than the previous two
Ipswich v Bristol City 11/10 <---- Risky, City are in good form.
    Wolves v Barnsley 4/6 <---- Safe
May if i'm feeling lucky add
Bolton v Middlesbrough 11/10 <---- Risky again, draw for me.
I think you could find games with better odds than what you have there.

Most teams are tied up in the FA cup this weekend which always has rubbish odds, you never know what kind of team are to be put out and theres always an upset in your bet, nearly as bad as betting on the league cup, in all honesty out of all mine I think crystal palace is the dodgy one.

Teams care about the F.A cup, especially lower league ones as if they progress they have a brilliant opportunity of playing a premiership team and thus raking in the money.
I'd be very surprised if any team playing in the F.A cup on Saturday deliberately fielded a weaker side.

On the point of the bold above, I think theres likely to be an upset in most bets, thats the risk you take

Yeah there's no harm! *There's nothing more annoying than getting one result wrong in your accy! *So at least a bit of cover saves some of the pain

Wafer Cup tonight, will probably have a couple of punts on that.

I had £10 on Club America to beat Millionaires in the Copa de Sudamericana last night. *Won me an extra £17.50 to play with *

Accumulators never come off for me.

I only have one bet running at the moment, a fiver on Messi to be top scorer in Champo League at 14-1.

Problem with that bet is that you have to keep that little bit of paper safe for so long, all for only £70.

I'd probably only manage not to lose it if it was worth in excess of 3-4 hundred.

Only £70? I can make £70 go a long way!

My dad lost our Forest 5-1 Huddersfield slip though. £1 on at 55-1. Disappointing.

Could you be bothered to hold on to £70 until May though?

I'd just put it in a drawer where I know it'd stay until then!

The only longish term bet I made was Bayern Munich to win the CL last season.

Hmm I don't fancy much tonight! I don't know enough about the smaller European teams.

So I'm going to place a few 'safe' ones...

    £2 on:
    Hapoel Tel Aviv v Tottenham
    Rennes v SK Brann
    Mlada Boleslav v Villareal
    Fiorentina v Elfsborg

£2 on a home bankers offer:
    Galatasaray v Helsingborg
    Rennes v SK Brann
    Bayern Munich v Bolton
    Fiorentina v Elfsborg

Not sure about Munich winning, think boring Bolton may play for the draw. Reckon Helsingborg are still a decent outfit too...

I'll be putting one on with about 20 games

Prob just put 50p on it as they are always capped at a million pounds anyway, so there's no point going too mental!
