    Default Ps3 or Xbox Elite

My Xbox 360 died this morning (Red light of death) and as it's out of warranty it's pretty shagged.

Now the dilemma is do I buy a new Xbox or do I go over the PS3.

Obviously the advantages of staying with Xbox is all my existing games will still be supported while if I got a PS3 it would mean buying a whole new set of games.

I have also heard that Ps3 online is pretty poor in comparison to Xbox although obviously with Xbox you have to pay to play online where as on PS3 it's free.

Now (and this could be the key factor) I have a 42" HD TV and have recently been thinking about getting a Blu-Ray player. Obviously the PS3 has one of these built in while the XBOX just has a DVD player.

    HELP!!!!

I'd personally go with an Xbox again; you don't even need to get the elite if i'm honest.

I've no experience of a PS3 - if you were happy with your XBox and you still have the games and accessories etc then that seems like the logical choice.

Blu-ray players probably aren't as costly as buying fuckloads of games/controllers/etc for the PS3.

Yeah if I was in your situation I'd probably stick with the Xbox. Although it must be said, the PS3 is better.

ps3 imho Ive had a xbox and was amazed how much better the ps3 is.

I think the ps3 was poor online in the begining but now days it is spot on and best of all its free no need to pay for any silly subscriptions each year.

take the 360 to playtime in town though they will fix it for less than a new 360 with 3 months waruntee, or sell it on ebay as spares repairs buy a ps3 and trade you games in for new ps3 ones.

I have an Xbox but recently purchased a PS3 off a mate, within 3 days I gave it him back. lol

The online service for PS3 is so slow, crash's and has far to much lag.

I think it depends what your used too.

I have a PS3 and have never experienced any of the problems you've described there. Weird.

    Neither have I.

Whereas with a 360 I can't get online because its a waste of 40 quid!

PSN online play is just as good if not better than Xbox Live and it's free.. It doesn't lag any more than the Xbox, it clearly depends on your internet connection.

PS3 definitely gets my vote. You can browse the internet on your TV for free and its fast
    BluRay
There's this new application that's recently came to PS3 where you can watch thousands & thousands of music videos on VidZone.
You can rent or purchase brand new or old films from the PS3 Store
You can watch BBC iPlayer on your PS3.. Infact you can go on any website on your PS3

& tons more great stuff !

Like it has been said, the myth that the PS3 online is laggy and slow is simply not true.

Even if xbox is slightly more reliable online, is it worth £40 a year?

Funny, I paid £30 for 13 months of Xbox live...

I'd say get whatever is cheapest. It's only until the next gen consoles come out anyway. Get saving for Project Natal

    So it's basically a PC.

I was torn between the two on the basis of the Blu-Ray arguement.

But as decent Blu-Ray players are only around £100-£140 now, it's less of an incentive, so i got an Xbox with 4 games and an extra controller for about £140.

I think you can buy the arcade version of the Xbox for about £109 now.

I think the PS3 is much much better online and free to boot.

I would say though if you already have a collection of Xbox games and enjoyed the system then there's not much point in changing and building up a game collection again from scratch.

If you had owned neither and couldn't decide which to buy I'd tell you PS3 every time but the situation you have Xbox will most likely be your better bet.

It depends what kind of games you play really. The usual games will be available on both systems, so if you like the fancy of any of the exclusives, I'd decide based on them - and to me, the 360's looks so, so much better, including - Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Halo Reach and Crackdown 2 - where as Playstation owners can enjoy playing with 10,000 different cars on Gran Turismo 5, MMOFPS game MAG (good luck with that)), Heavy Rain, God Of War 3, Final Fantasy 1,000,000, 3d Dot Heroes (whatever the fuck that is) and a bunch of Japanese games featuring naked, cartoon, underage girls.

If none of these games interest you and you just play stuff like FIFA and CoD, stick with what you have unless you want the Blu Ray too, then get a PS3. Simples!

The online features of the Xbox 360 far outweigh the PS3, Microsoft certainly know what they're doing in that area. The PS3 is more equipped for this decade though, as games made for the Xbox 360 are taking the machine as far as it'll go.

For the record, i have both consoles.
