Let's not kid ourselves

We need to win next weekend, it's not a mathematically must win game but in a footballing sense we need it.

Luton play Everton on Friday and are one point behind us.
If they draw then we will only be above them on GD, and if they win we'll be 2 points behind them.
Everton are also pretty much safe and have been pushing the likes of Doucoure, Gueye and DCL through the limits to play.

We need an Everton win there, and then if that happens we go in 1 ahead of them, win and this becomes 4 from 6 points remaining.

That means we need to lose both our matches - or at least only pick up one point - and Luton need to win both of theirs, so we'd be pretty much safe then.

These guys are shipping left right and centre and not scoring too many. We need to be at them from the start and go for it.

Call me a sucker but I actually think we’ll pull our finger out and show up from here on in. I think we’ll put in a good performance tomorrow despite the likely defeat which will blow some confidence back in. From there we’ll get the job done against Sheffield United and Chelsea with 4 points before a waka waka party at Burnley.

I know in the gloom and fear about our away form that that feels a bit clutch at straws hopeful but I just have a feeling we’ll get over the line in the end.

Onwards we go to step two in my master plan for Premier League survival with 4 points from the next two games.

Fecking start Elanga. It will go someway to improve our odds ffs

Even I who struggles with the nuances of modern football strategy can see leaving him out is disgraceful.

I was going to go through all the permutations and stuff, had a bunch typed out but realised at the end, you know what, this is all still in our hands and given how horrible this season has been, for all different kinds of reasons, don't end the season with a whimper or rely on appeals giving points back. We've got two games against relegation rivals who have been submerged all season and a team that has spent an absolute fortune to implode.

The players and manager owe the fans a good finish to the season so just get it done Forest.

Burnley beat them 4-1 away. Luton beat them 3-2 away. If we can't beat them we don't deserve to stay up.
Chelsea couldn't beat them at BL. So presumably that means they are absolutely shite and therefore we should easily batter them.

Phew, I'm glad that's all been sorted out. For a minute there I thought we might go down.

When we play Chelsea, both Burnley and Luton will have both already played away in London that Saturday.

We need to carry on the momentum from yesterday, win at Sheffield Utd and then we will know what we have to do against Chelsea.

Certainly going to be a twitchy three weeks!

You dont see us beating the Blunts?

I like you Ash but come on lad.
Between our awful away record and Sheff U's history sticking a fly in the ointment with us over the years, and I get the concern tbh.

They'll also have the pressure off now too, so that's a worry too. On paper we should have them, but we travel so badly it's not a given.

Personally I don't think we'll lose, but I think they might sting us with a draw similar to how Luton did. Maybe a typical late set piece job, with some dodgy reffing thrown in to rub salt into the wounds.

Lets hope that all proves to be bollocks and we thrash 'em.

We're a very different team away from home, unfortunately.

I hope I'm wrong, but our away performances don't give me much confidence (whereas at home, I think we can give anyone a good game).

Even at our shittest we should have enough to be competitive against a dire Sheff Utd team the week after they've been pumped 5-1 and got relegated.

We might not win but saying you can't see us winning seems a bit Debbie Downer for me. We should think we can win the game. Hopefully the players have a bit more steel about them and feel that way too because if we can get any sort of win vs the bottom of the league club, even if it's a 1-0 win with an OG, then we go into the Chelsea game almost certainly knowing that a win will make us mathematically safe.

We should have enough, but will we? I've seen too many shocking performances away from home to have any real confidence in us beating anyone away from the City Ground.

They gave Man United and Chelsea a game recently (getting a draw against the latter), so they can certainly cause a Forest side in "away" mode problems I'm sure.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think a draw is probably the most likely result.

Totally agree Ash. Once we set foot on the pitch away from home we are absolutely terrible.
I'm seriously thinking about just renewing the away membership if we get relegated it's that bad.
If we lose on Saturday I can't see a way out of this . I'm thinking 5 points (including one from the appeal) might just be enough to get us out of this mess.

The refreshing sight of our back line not constantly sideways passing, and then eventually back to our goalkeeper, was so much better to see yesterday. Our press was excellent most of the time. Why was this never implemented before? Play the same against SU and MGW play to his undoubted ability and we take back a much needed win.

So down to 3, Burnley are the worrying turd that won't flush.

Us. If we don't beat this Sheff Utd side then we don't deserve to survive. A point at home to Chelsea is more than possible if we approach similar to yesterday. If we do that then Burnley should be down by time we visit.

Luton. While I think West Ham will beat them in London, the 2 home games against Everton and Fulham look like great opportunities for points. Gonna hate cheering Everton on Friday night but needs must. Dychey is a Forest fan right?

Burnley. Newcastle at home will depend on which Newcastle turn up. They should lose away at Spurs but then again with matches at Chelsea and Liverpool before that, Spurs might be out of the top 4 race and low on moral.

The kick off timings are in our favour. We'll know the Luton v Everton result before we play at Sheff Utd. We'll know the Luton and Burnley results before we host Chelsea. COYR.
