Whooppie doo!!! Oh to be grateful to be as good as Palace who we drew against twice and should have won both. Our aim next season has to be top half. And yes I know it will be tough, as there are a lot of good teams, but we have have ambition to compete in the other half of the table. We did achieve 8th on a couple of occasions this season!!

Well, yeah. Crystal Palace, who have been comfortably established at this level for over a decade and haven't been threatened with relegation in that time? Crystal Palace, who have some of the best young talent in the country on their books?

Of course that's what we should be aiming for next.

Personally I'd take survival again in a heartbeat. Takes a long time to get established after being away for so long - and Leeds ended up going down in the 3rd season so it's not as though we're suddenly guaranteed survival on account of avoiding relegation for a couple of seasons.

Palace are a realistic benchmark of where we could get to in the not too distant future - but I'd say we're at least a couple of seasons off.

Once again we have come to the end of a season where those of us who have been preaching that the teams at the bottom aren't suddenly going to become Champions League challengers for the last 5 games were right after all. Luton have done brilliantly this season but the bottom line is that they are a poor team that clearly lacked the quality to stay up. People were talking about Fulham at home in particular as being an absolute home banker for Luton which was comical, especially with their dreadful form. Consider this an early plea to stop overrating everyone at the bottom in the name of fear if we find ourselves down there again next season please.
For those of us old enough, after 1993 I'll always prefer to overestimate the opposition and make sure the job gets done than get caught out. You can never bank on results in the final two games as strange things happen, e.g. Villa's pathetically hungover attempts at Palace.

If that upsets you... 🤷‍♂️

Palace also won at Anfield a few weeks ago, something we have not done for 55 years (including every time we played there under Clough)
