Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

I think you're being very diplomatic about it. Cooper and Brighton is a complete disaster waiting to happen - they fancy themselves as a poundshop Barcelona nowadays and he doesnt play that way in any shape or form. He would've been much more suited to a team like Palace.
That’s good news for us though.

We did have good possession in the promotion season though the obvious quick strength there was getting the ball to the right side for Spence and Johnson.

I don't think that Cooper's natural style is either the low block we employed in the PL or the free passing style of the likes of Kompany, Arteta, Guardiola etc but a compromise approach somewhere in the middle.

As yet he hasn't demonstrated getting results with anything but a low block approach in the PL so I don't understand a top club or one with such aspirations would take the risk on him, but then Kompany to Bayern... and also, he's not going to get to show that without better players than he had at his disposal here

Cooper being a negative manager is a complete myth, it's called adaptability and it's a sign of a tactically competent coach. The alternative is someone like Kompany who has a plan A and no clue how to deviate from it. Coopers preference is to play attacking football, he wasn't setting us up as a low block counter attacking side out of preference it was out of necessity, we gave it a go playing on the front foot and got quickly exposed so he adapted and set us up in a way that would give us a higher chance of surviving

You can only work with what's infront of you, he had to try and integrate a whole new squad of players with a near non existent pre season, most managers never have to deal with that scenario let alone in their first season of PL management. What he achieved here was genuinely impressive and i'm not sure people truly appreciate it

100%. I think those denying this are just in a deep cope tbh. Everyone could see he was trying to evolve us last season, and was doing so with some degree of success. But then Turner starting gifting goals away, Vlach proved a none-entity, and Cooper had to change tact. We simply couldn't leave such a fragile net exposed.

The same people who throw this myth about are usually the same who were telling us they could see us finishing far higher under Nuno because of the wins over Newcastle and Man U. They are just wishing it were true.

I'm not sure if Brighton being a bad fit for Coops has that much to do with all of the great things he achieved here mate. His adaptability was outstanding, as you say, especially under the circumstances.

It would still be a borderline miracle if he went in there and played their style of football. They had an average of 60.2% possession last season. Even his Swansea days were a sort of hybrid of styles - they had 50.6% possesion in his big 20/21 season, and they're a club that demands it.

I think he will end up at Leicester to be honest, I’ll be interested to see how his next job goes regardless of the club.

He obviously did a great job here but IMO was running out of ideas at the end and was the right decision for everyone to part ways, I think he aged about 10 years during his time here.

It’s a very hard job here and most people end up getting fired while looking like they haven’t slept for a month, I unfortunately think Leicester would be just as stressful of a job though.

Yeah it will be fascinating on many counts. Will he be as keen to galvanise the crowd as he was here? How will he get his teams to play? What will the make up of his squad look like?

It'll be weird for me personally seeing him manage someone else as I had very little awareness of him before he came to us, so to me his career so far is essentially just as a Forest manager.

Obviously if it's a fellow Premier League club he ends up at then I (and I'd assume everyone else on here) would hope that he fails miserably.

I'm still banking on him taking the England job after Southgate leaves in the summer.

George Park is commutable from Notts and it means he won't manage a team I don't support
