Opposition fans' comments: Everton v Forest

HBB

Jack Burkitt
HBB says: Pretty sickened after that to be honest. Everton fans split between thinking they totally deserved it and those that think they got away with it, as I think its fair to say the majority believed we should have had those penalties. Then we have a load of reaction to the club's posting re the VAR (or lack thereof) decisions. I'll add to the thread as it goes

Massive win, scrappy, ugly, lucky, but. It's still 3 points. It's about time that the poor refereeing decisions went in our favour.

Really important result and thoroughly deserved

I have a lot of sympathy for Forest. Man City, lpool, arsenal would have got 2 of those pens.

We got away with it today, big time. Forest created more dangerous chances and should've had 2, maybe 3 penalties. But for a couple of rare moments of quality, there'd be a much different feeling this evening.

Forest taking their ball home with VAR accusations lmao. Kin sore losers. They wanna spend sometime with Everton and see the full impact of what VAR can do to a club. Absolutely slaughtered us this season.

I really want Forest to go down.

Tbf to Forest, on the one hand that 3rd one where Young went though the back of the players foot looked as stonewall as they come. On the other hand, sniff it you cheating shower of bastards!

Absolutely made up with the 3 points but have to say I'm gobsmacked that Forest didn't get at least 2 pens

As funny as it is-and we got lucky imo- Forest really showing the Prem and VAR for what it is. Corrupt.

If I was a Forest fan I would be very disappointed with the refereeing today. We, as a club, cannot complain about the standard of refereeing and then not recognise clear and obvious mistakes. While I am happy with the result I recognise we benefited from poor refereeing.

They were all absolute stonewall penalties.

Thats Forest not getting any points back :D Would prefer them to go down than Luton or Burnley ;)

I would personally like to thank Notts Forest for trying to beat Everton at having the worst leadership at a club in the league, magic.

Kinda hope they stay up now. Nice not being the basket case of the league.

I’ll say it again. I really hope Forest go down. Horrible club. Horrible fans.

Thought they were quite poor. Murillo, Gibbs-White and Hudson-Odoi all over rated.

Could have been a lot worse today, obviously. WTF the officials were thinking with their pen appeals, I don't know?

Jesus….they’re not diplomatic are they….I can’t believe they have posted that 😂

That’s surely a massive fine? A manager can’t say that, so a club certainly can’t openly accuse the PGMOL of corruption?

Forest really do want to burn it all down, don’t they? No taking it quietly like us. They just set fire to the Premier League HQ.

I suspect they’re probably trying to influence the outcome of their appeal. Make enough noise in the public domain about injustices and attempt to influence the judgment of the IC through other ways.

I'd guess Clattenburg's behind that Forest protest tweet.

We all laugh, but let's be honest... They're probably right.

The tweet is a bit desperate. But the prem should be investigating themselves before anyone else.

Well we all know the game is corrupt someone has to stand up and say it good on Forest for doing it

We definitely deserved to win, we weren't great by any means, but they were awful.

Fair do's. Most of them think the same as us. They have been stuffed by VAR this season and are now happily riding their luck.

They got away with one today, though we didn't help ourselves.

I wonder if EM told the media guys to release the tweet, or whether some in the media group has fired it off without clearance from the Board/Owner.
Personally, I don't believe a twitter underling would have dared to post that without instruction from the board.
Personally I think the rreal issue is the complete lack of effort over the 90 minutes that has done for us.
These show ponies don't actually seem, bar one or two exceptions, to really give a toss.

Not a fan of Evertons fans, in fairness though they do recognise that the var debacle was ridiculous.

I would add that I wish we would stop the "sign on chants" its distasteful and given that we are also one of the most impoverished cities in England, its also hypocritical.

I don't want to indulge in "they started it" but they started it by chanting "scabs" at us just before

I think 99% of fans would like to abolish VAR the 1% being those who profit from it.
Isn't it time that the fans and clubs got together and demanded that the refereeing and VAR got sorted out? The refereeing problems aren't just in the Premier League, they are in the Championship too. I saw the otherday that Leeds were expecting the latest in a series of apologies for bad refereeing mistakes.

Things are so bad now you barely trust the referees to get a decision right. It's almost like they deliberately make decisions in favour of a team and hope that VAR will take the blame if they do overrule them, but of course there are many things VAR can't overrule, like Boly's sending off.

I saw the other day that they are looking at an automated system for offside. No doubt it won't go live until they have programmed it to favour the top six clubs.

Atleast most acknowledge we should have won the match, how MGW didn't get that on target.

VAR is a failed experiment, if they can't get consistency after watching video replays, some draw offside lines from a outstretched arm, shoulder and others draw what can only be described as lines from your toe, coventry vs man ure example, how is that even deemed offside

Everton's complaints about VAR are all the fouls given against them, but as the proved they're a dirty cynical team so fuckem.

Oddly we don't get a lot of fouls given against us via VAR, except at Old Trafford, because we're quite a clean team and in general play we're ok defensively. But the amount of fouls we don't get is shocking. There is no explanation for it beyond bias.

How is it that in rugby it seems to work pretty well? The issue is displayed for all to see and the ref, line judges and TMO discuss to an agreed resolution.
Additionally when the TMO spots foul play that hasn't been noticed, the ref is informed and checks are made.

Why is it so difficult in football?

Interesting set of comments.
Some recognising we should all be standing together against the corruption in this league, then others can’t shake their tribal instincts and just laughing at us for complaining.

That’s exactly why it will continue and nothing will be done about it. The PL know fans will turn a blind eye as long as their club is doing okay and take the piss out of other clubs misfortunes.

Thanks for your efforts HBB.

It's easy to be magnanimous when you're on the winning side, but the simple truth of it is that while any one of those three penalty shouts could/should have been given, it's probably not unusual in this bizarre VAR standard we have on "clear and obvious" for one of those to go against you in a game. Three in one match is exceptionally unlucky though and I'd be absolutely livid in your situation.

Expected a little bit more from you in terms of what you did on the pitch if I'm honest, with CHO, Gibbs-White and Elanga in the matchday squad, but even then you created enough to have got something out of the game.

Obviously yesterday was massive for us and it's a huge step to safety, but I hope Forest stay up and I say that not as a pat on the head or anything but just that you're a big, historically successful club with a big ground and the league is better for having sides like Forest in it.

Definitely 2 penalties in Hudson Odoi incidents. Other one 50/50
from FFC fan .Seems VAR are reluctant to question decisions from the top refs
Taylor ,Oliver. Hope you stay up.
Cheers mate. Looks like we're burning the house down with this one, but f**k it is the general concencious here. We might be opening a can of worms on the PGMOL or we might have got it wrong but we're all sick to the back teeth of it and at this point happy to see where the chips fall.

Thanks.

No ill will to Everton, the decisions weren't your teams fault. Your fans weren't any trouble post game on train either which was nice.

Thanks HBB.

Mostly sound responses from EFC fans.

Sadly we also witnessed some typical scouse behaviour.

1. On eighty five minutes when the Safety Steward decided to wind up Forest supporters near the corner flag with no reaction from his seniors.
2. Departing on a supporters coach near the ground we had a young teenager throw a stone at our coach - fortunately the toughened glass did its job. His farther just laughed at us!

Enough said.

Thanks for the compliment and likewise, no disrespect to clubs like Bournemouth for example but I’d much rather see Everton on the fixture list at the beginning of each season.

In isolation yesterdays officiating didn’t bother me that much and I certainly don’t blame Everton, we would have been rubbing our hands together if it was the other way around, no doubt.
It’s what has happened over the course of the season and from what I can gather you have has much to complain about as us.
Football used to be swings and roundabouts, decisions would even out over a season, now it all seems one way. Add in the point’s deduction as well, which seems a bit selective to say the least.

Yeah, we expected more from us as well, same most weeks 😅

Good luck with the rest of the season 👍🏼
