Haha back to "cash-strapped Nottingham Forest". It's been a while!

I strongly suspect that Forest thought Worrall was being sold(to Brentford)and still may leave if another club
makes a suitable offer.
Given that Mr.Marinakis has stated that the club won't infringe FFP rules(which I agree with),the club is
technically 'cash strapped' due to COVID and poor recruitment in the past.
I would imagine many other Championship clubs are in the same boat.

I'd be very unhappy if we sell Worrall to Burnley for cash and Doig on loan. Worrall is better than that club.

I like the way we went from ‘big spending’ Nottingham Forest to ‘cash strapped’ Nottingham Forest in two seasons.

Getting Doig on loan would be a decent result, but not if we lose Worrall for a rubbish fee

Any comments on Sheffield Wednesday's George Baldock? He was reportedly proposed to us and we're seriously consy his case.

There’s the answer for “ cash strapped “ Nottingham Forest.

Olympiakis buy Baldock/Buchanan/Doig and loan one of them back to us.

I don’t know why Marinakis doesn’t do this more often.

It doesn’t even have to be huge amounts of money, he could offset it with money moving the other way.

For example, if we’re 500k short for Buchanan or Flemming (offering 2m but they want 2.5m), Olympiakos could buy the player for 2.5m then loan him to us for two years for a 2m loan fee (payable over same period as Oly are paying) with an obligation/option to buy for £1 at the end. £500k promotion bonus to Olympiakos if we get promoted during the loan or after the permanent move. All square all round.

That’s without even starting on the fact that, as a foreign team, Olympiakos can offer pre-contracts as early as 6 months before an English club’s player contract expires. Olympiakos could legitimately sign Buchanan for next year at the end of this calendar year, for a tiny training compensation fee.

We could do the same for them, hoovering up the best of the rest in Greece with contracts expiring.

I’d be quite happy to help them out with UEFA FFP if we ever get to the riches of the Premier League, which I am sure would happen. But it seems to make sense that they give us a helping hand to get there in the mean time. Would be win-win for both clubs.

He’s a very attacking right-back, excelled in Sheff Utd’s wingback system. Like most of that squad, he works hard and is a good team player. Good cross on him.

Gone under the radar a bit early in his career after starting at MK Dons, now that he has reached the top level, I imagine he’d want to stay there and also cash in wages wise so his salary demands might be quite high. It’s likely that he’s not on a huge amount (by English standards) currently though.

Does anyone think that we'll manage to sign any players?

This week? No.

Before the end of the window? Maybe, but our business being done so late will probably mean we'll have just as poor a start to this season as we did last season.

I think our lack of preseason games will have a bigger impact than any signings issues.

Both will have a big impact. Our weakness at full back, lack of quality in midfield and upfront along with our lack of match sharpness will make us easy pickings in our August fixtures. Hopefully it doesn't tank our season like it did last season.

I'd be worried if 20 odd other teams in the league weren't in exactly the same position. We are likely waiting on certain domino's to fall.

Zinckernagel - Waiting for Watford to sign another winger, then he will likely be allowed to leave on loan.
Gardner - Being assessed pre-season by United, likely he will be allowed to leave once this has been finished.
Kulenovic - Deal in place but player is deciding where he wants to go.
Flemming - Sounds like everything has been agreed with the player, just waiting on agreeing a deal with the club. Might end up being later on in the window when/if his club realise they aren't getting the big money they were hoping for.
Doig - Waiting to see where he goes, could end up on loan, a transfer directly to us seems unlikely.
Buchanan - Derby aren't that desperate for the money, yet. Likely depends what happens with Doig.

I know it isn't what people want to hear, but in the current climate, it is a waiting game for Premier League clubs to make a move before we can do our business.

Supposedly we've put in a bid for a Reading midfielder to test their resolve under embargo. Also only has a year left on his contract. Their player of the season.

Looking forward to seeing how Peterborough and Hull do of the promoted teams.

Peterborough have replaced us and Birmingham as a Cat 2 academy in the north and they are producing decent players ie watch out for 17/18 year-olds Harrison Burrows, Ronnie Edwards & Ricky-Jade Jones who are in their core first team squad.

Also seen in recent days they've signed a 20 year-old left-back Joe Tomlinson from Eastleigh and now just signed 19/20 year-old attacker Kwame Poku from Colchester. They could get bombs playing these kids in the Championship with their "reputation".

Anyone remember the Wolf ?

There was another called "The Widdow" at the same time and they got their transfer calls spot on.

My mate is on the coyrforestforum & he says the Widdow claims we have a midfielder and an attacker signing in the next 48 hours. Could even be today. By cheeky questioning it looks like he is hinting Garner is the midfielder.
